hey guys here's some new stuff. Sketches and a finished illustration for my editorial class--about coyotes moving into urban areas. I got kind of a mediocre crit, so I would appreciate any advice on...
Hey I remember your stuff from before. Nice SB, I love all of your character drawings. Keep up the good work!
New stuff from my anatomy class.
Some stuff from this summer's watercolor sketchbook. I spent a month in Italy! It was amazing! These are all from observation--they probably took about an hour each.
Trying to break it up a little bit to avoid one giant art-flood. Have some more stuff:
Edit: Thanks a lot Ivan! That's what I'm shooting for.
Going through the backlogs of the observational stuff I created this year:
Hey Sam, I was surprised to see a familiar name on here while browsing the sketchbook forum--It's Hannah from school--small world. Are the figures from life? Bringing a tablet to a model drawing...
this is great, I really like the way you handle the colors!
wow, this sketchbook is serious business. I especially like those cast studies on page 2
As of 2010, I am a sophomore/rising junior in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. I had a sketchbook here, but I hadn't updated it in about a year and a half,...
when I first saw this, I thought it was the guy from Red Dead Redemption, haha.
Looks like you are off to a solid start, but there are a few things I think you could tighten up. The figure's...
Oh, I probably should have posted this in Art Discussion. I haven't been here in a while. Thanks, I'll see if I can find it.
I've been doing some research on preparing wood surfaces for oil paint, and I am finding lots of conflicting information. I have a giant piece of 1/2 inch birch plywood that I want to...
Thanks very much, Dpaint and JeffX99. I appreciate the help.
I have a problem. I've just been assigned a perspective based final project for my sophomore illustration drawing class. We are supposed to draw the view of our college square in 3 pt...
Wow big improvement! Perhaps if you had some of the white around the horse's pupil showing, it would give the animal more emotion. Horses tend to roll their eyes when they are frightened.
A tip: don't use black to shade skin! See if you can punch up the colors a bit on those skin tones.
The anatomy looks pretty solid to me. Perhaps her legs look a little long?
Good luck :)
Bulldawg, thanks for your input. Those paintings above were all completed on a one week deadline. If you see flaws in the rendering, it may be because of rather short time constraints.
I'm a risd freshman right now, I have yet to declare, but I am pretty sure I will be in illustration. I can tell you a little bit about each program.
Illustration: most of the illustration...
My school is on wintersession now, so we are taking a relaxing break from the madness of foundations. I'm taking a course on animals in the illustration department. My professor mentioned CA once in...
I like this. The way you have constructed the face reminds me somewhat of Dave Kinsey's art. You should check him out.
cool stuff! I love that most recent one.
More Foundation Year stuff, we are working with value. Here are some Gouache paintings of photojournalism images and some ink paintings of shadows:
Those pandas in the photo I was working from are...
AND NOW ITS TIME FOR: Foundation Studies Dump! My digital camera has gone missing, I think it was stolen. (stolen is a better story than I'm silly and I lost it somewhere). I have a back-up camera...
Thanks for the nice comment in my sketchbook.
hmm, as far as advice about portfolio, I can say the best thing would be to attend national portfolio day and talk to a RISD representative face to...
