i dont think you have to blend any tones, but i would really suggest introducing some hard clean confident surface edges. right now all of them are quite fuzzy what makes it look "unfinished" to me....
I like it very much
and i actually like monochrome colors..
maybe some saturation gradient helps to add depth and seperate the mesh more from the background

I agree with Damjan with introducing more color variation, you use really a lot of yellow in light and shadow areas.
purples, blues and reds would be a good...
nice portrait, not a perfect likelyness but i recongnize you ;)

the face structure and the planes are pretty nice
maybe the eye area lacks a bit of shadows, looks a bit...
