um..go..Paint Tool Sai?
Hi so on my laptop I can't seem to rotate the canvass on my workspace. I went in preferences and checked to see if the OpenGL was turned on (it is).
My video card is a Radeon HD 6310M.
Is this not...
Oh nice Matt, so all the pieces so far in you sketchbook haev used this method? "glaze, temp layers, smudging, opaque layers, then color and color dodge to do effects?
Just bought your video (the painting greyscale to color one) and it's probably one of the best painting videos I've seen (and I've seen a ton). Nice, straight to the point, and easy explanations.
can't wait for more vids. I need to find time and watch all the new ones.
Very nice, thank you!
For those of us who do not have photoshop, will some of those painting techniques still apply? (I've got Paint Tool Sai)
I guess why most of us love Vilppu is the fact he breaks it down figure drawing to the most basic/simple form that nearly everyone can understand.
Anyone have the lessons to Feitelson and Carmean?
oh man you gotta tell us how you add color! :)
man I wish I knew how you added color afterwards. If I focus on color, i lose value. If I focus on value, I lose color sense.
Ugh, so frustrating. Beautiful work!
And I followed your advice and bought that book too. :)
Hope it helps me!
Thanks very much for the quick step by step of figure drawing. If you got any more, please share! :D
really awesome gestures. Do you have a general process of doing them as well?
dang man, looks great! Do you do all the greyscale stuff in a single layer before adding the colors?
In a I'm going to eat you next kind of way...
Awesome updates! Going to do more progress step by steps?
Oh, and do you use photoshop for everything? Could i use say..Painter...
Man oh man it's been almost a year since I stumbled into here. Look how far you've come :)
Sadly I haven't progressed nearly as much. Lovely work!
Damn lookin' good!
Then you're simply not reading enough, lol. There's more distinct, unique, and interesting books out there now than ever before.
If you're going digital, try painting all in 1 layer.
I've been trying to get "looser" with my drawings too. I used to construct my figures with cylinders, cubes, ect..but then they'd get either too messy with a bunch of lines or get too stiff. I've...
Really liking what you have so far. Great values and use of color. Only thing i notice is that the cupcake isn't very detailed/rendered. Perhaps put some more use of values to make it pop out more...
Uh..I'm using this NECA action figure as reference. He really is pretty darn buff, but I'll tone it down.
It seems like an anatomical and perspective issue. Try having Grendel's arm larger and his upper torso in a more forward perspective. It'll help with the dynamics a lot.
