These are beautiful.
Goddamn. Love the colors in the second one. Excellent contrast overall.
Spencer Casey - 071006 (I dunno if that's the title or not, that's just how it's tagged from his myspace. It's a song about fat kids)
Adrian Orange - Blushing
Animal Collective - The Purple...
Funkafide: Thanks man. I agree on the whole, the problem is I run out of steam after the entire thing looks cohesive. I should start working smaller, perhaps.
Lotet: Thank you ^_^
Also, a little something I forgot to include before: a valentine I made!
It's been forever since I used my last one, so what the hell, new sketchbook! I'm now 18, graduated highschool, and dropped out of college! (cuz it sucked bawls)
All of these have been done within the last couple of months or so. The first was done a couple of weeks ago, the others were assignments I had before I left MICA. Hooray!
Someone likes Lucian Freud. I really love the second one. The first one's also nice, but it feels a bit lopsided. Put it up against a mirror.
I did a Sargent composition backwards. I don't have the piece now so I can't take a better slide of it, but I do have a nice shitty one available.
Stoat - I bought the linen unprimed from Utrecht. I just primed it with two layers of white acrylic gesso.
Dose - Ground is blankets, it'll look nicer once it's done. I checked out Jerome Witkin,...
That one is, I think, 7ft by 5ft? I chopped off the sides a little because I've not yet had time to work on them, but it'll be done soon. I have to do two more of those...
Alright, uhhh, couple of things. First off, that hair line once it passes your brow isn't believable -- it has no weight to it, probably doesn't come out that far, and definitely not with an angle...
Just saw this thread -- didn't know MICA was being represented here. I'm starting for painting in the fall! W00t!
Perdido Street Station's one of my favorite books of all time. The illustration's fucking nuts.
Thanks for the crits all; I'll post this in the finally finished section in about two weeks.
It's a girl, by the way. She's sorta androgynous. But she's a pretty girlboy.
Alright, so! This is probably gonna be my last high school painting, gotta finish it before my show on in two weeks. It's 5 ft by 8 ft. Sorry it's a shitty picture, but you get the gist. Hit me.
Don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps using photoshop isn't something you should be focusing on right now - your main objective right now, even if you're just doing art for fun, is to practice...
Here's my um.... er..... yeah..... face.
Some of the tone's still showing through - I kinda had to rush that area to get it finished on time for Scholastics XD
Planning on going in and fixing it all eventually. Also, the foot, before...
Been a while since I posted - been busy trying to get all of my college applications done, NFAA and Scholastics portfolios sent in, artists equity, what have you. Trying to get as much scholarship...
Alright, it's been forever. Been busy with school and studio and ARTS and whatnot. Here's something recent, 16 hours straight. 3 x 4 ft, oil on masonite. One sitting. A response, if you will, to...
Loving the drawings of your girlfriend, simply exquisite. The mark and the quality of line has a very gentle feel, while remaining expressive. Kudos.
Jens: Thanks for the kind compliment. I try.
Moderate sketchbook dump this morning. I realize it's early, especially for you westcoaster bastards. I dunno, I guess any of you in europe or asia...
Path of light's very nice in this one - perhaps try working on white paper more often? Using a white pencil throws off the lighting a bit - first of all it's blue, and secondly it makes the...
