"cutting down" his shoe? i'm not sure what you mean. and i'm not trying to make him look cool, he just happened to be in my computer chair playing guitar when i started the drawing.
here's a clearer pic but the values are messed up around the left of the guitar.
i'm really sorry about the bad quality phone cam pic, but i can't get to a scanner until later in the week. i have a big question though, and i don't think the picture quality matters for this one.

just do what you want man... you're on the right track, just do whatever you feel like to keep practicing. imo it's better to just draw what you want instead of feeling obligated to "study" and then...
