Try adding deep saturated purple/pinkish colour to the shadows, this way it's to monotonous, the shadows and the highlights seem to be of the same hue.
Add more black.
Also, he seems to have no neck, the head should be a bit higher imo.

You should maybe try using some brushes other than default round for more traditional look, I get the "it's photoshop" feeling :)
