You are correct Graydon about Gamsol. I was defining it in more generally. I use it to thin my paint and clean my brushes.
As for the definition of a limited palette of course it is all relative...

Thanks Timothy, Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits is just a safer version of turpentine by Gamblin.
