JPEG normally uses compression, so you will have loss of information/quality.
TIFF is uncompressed, so no information is lost, but creates big files.
Both with JPEG and TIFF a lot of variables...
Every user has this feature, not only admins
User CP -> Edit Options -> Use Invisible Mode
