It was überfun to participate in this event, even in such silent way. The entires are great and I can't wait to see the final bunch.
Good luck everybody!
The vampire stuff is really cool, the figures and skintones are great. The only thing I could mention is it's kinda motionless though we're in the middle of furious battle.
That painted 3d look drive me nuts. Great as usual Michael. Keep up the good work!
The 2nd and the last image are just stunning.
Wow... what an attitude. Now I'm wondering why all these great artists, sculptors, 3d modelers, photographers etc. spend their time on the landfill?
Hey marc, nice concepts... the first one could turn into a great painting. I remember your works since BioWare (and thanks for "some thoughts on character design" and other notes) and seems like...
Great stuff Michael! Stunning work really. I wonder if you've used 3d for last 3 pics or it's all painted?
Hangar concept from StarCraft Chronicles, a fan made cgi animation.
Cinematic storyboards sample
These looks a lot like storyboards for film or animation. They are helpful for director and crew to get a sense of look and feel, scene lighting and mood as well as...
Thanks guys! Glad you've some fun here. I've resized previous images to keep this thread nice.
Extollere, well... it's cropped version of Black Magic painting.
Gremlin Master concept from "Heroes of Might and Magic V".
I've worked on Academy faction in 2004.
The final version you see in the game is a bit different though.
UnSharpened, these aren't finished paintings since I spent 4 maybe 5 hours max on them. Consider this as refined sketches or pitches. :) And yes I'm working for game industry.
The Alien Ark
Well... here you'll see some sketches and pitch concepts. Check my blog for more info. And sorry for big files...
Ow I have seen a couple of Naruto concepts long ago and now you've kicked tons of cools stuff. It's enjoying and inspiring to see how fluent your brushes are in setting up the mood and energy....
hmm... maybe it's a bot or similar thing trying to log on. I've mailed ca admins, but no reaction so far. Still getting these mails with that...
Do you receive messages saying that "your account locked because someone has tried to log into the account with the wrong password more than 5 times?"
Would be hard to walk in these things except for zero gravity. )
Well there is nothing wrong with drawing fanart... sooner or later you'll find it quite boring to just replicate someone elses ideas, so just switch to your own creations... don't be afraid to do...
Hey man welcome to FF section! :) Neat work, personally I think it would works great as bg shot for some animation. Keep it up and post more!
Well I've tried to experement with optical mix idea that Sasha Beliaev posted on cgtalk and ca forums some time ago. Image painted in PS with hard round brushes mainly and some texture...
Hehe welcome to CA man. :)
You've got good, vibrant colors in your palette. The only thing is that most of planes are too clean, would nice to see some color and texture variation.
Mikko, just wondering how do you wrestling with finishing your works? I myself found that more than often half-finished sketches have more energy and visual impact than polished paintings.
Your practices are inspiring... I wish you could put more interest into environments, right now your characters looks much more vivid and interesting. Anyway, subscribed to this thread. Keep posting...
