i think what you could really do in lifeart is to variate your pencils. switch between your hs and bs and try to understand how they tick and create volume.

i think you need to draw longer strokes instead of short ones. try drawing an entire jawline or the sillohette of a figure in one go rather than stopping in between. your work will come out more...
