Just mucking around with a diablo 3 character that I didn't like.
Agerkvist - yea, sometimes I make changes when I do details and I tend to lose a bit of the feel of the original sketch, like in...
Thanks for the comments, will do replies later :)
Here's a continuation of the last sketch with some quick colour added.
In regards to the horned fellow, pay attention to the light sources so you can place correct shadows and highlights, I used the classic value sphere example to show how a single source light plus...
Here's another digital sketch, from imagination this time.
Ballpoint pen sketch from reference, for those of you who don't follow Rugby there's a retired French player by the name of Sebastien Chabal that makes good ref for a barbarian/caveman type look.
Here are some steps, provided you are happy with your composition. Remember if you don't understand how a material works, just draw the real thing, you'll learn quicker that way. It is impossible to...
Here are some more studies, one it particular regarding colour layer and overlay on top of a grayscale painting, it gets you half way there but it needs a lot more work to make the colours accurate. ...
Ok so I did a bit more on the random doodle. It could do with some more love but I'll leave it as is.
Uiriamu - thanks for looking, I wasn't planning on doing more on it but here it is. :)
Not much to crit on at the moment, looks like briareos from appleseed.
so far so good I suppose, do some more work on it. :)
Unless you are serious about programming, then do modelling, it's infinitely more useful to a concept artist.
Damn that's a lot of pets, sorry to hear about your hamster.
I've only got 1 cat, but it's my favourite cat, he's staring at me right now.
probably wants food.
This suffers mainly because of composition, you are trying to go for a dynamic look but the figure looks static and cramped, like you tried to fit her inside the borders. Just a 10min tweak is all it...
It's not too bad, only a few minor things I can see that could help make more effective. here are some thoughts in the paintover.
Here are some pointers on the abs and lighting in general. Also have the sword sitting on the trap muscle in front of the deltoid rather than behind, it looks more natural that way.
I really dig your last update, now finish that gorilla mech, it has me salivating.
To me it feels like you are adding too much white and desaturating the colours a lot. It's pretty hard to paint an underwater scene effectively but there are few things like floaty hair and bubbles...
In my opinion it lacks a bit of punch, maybe needs more contrast, the armor is looking a little dull. I like the design of it though, on the whole he looks pretty cool. Here are some thoughts on the...
I'll just comment on the head. In your latest update it is very skewed, here's what I mean.
Basic value study.
Thanks Dale :)
Nexam - The ref was pretty dark, I did add slightly brighter highlights but it could probably do with more to give it some more punch. cheers. :)
Misty Feather - thanks :)
I did a paintover of some things you may want to think about. Make sure you specify early on what kind of lighting you want, since you seem to have highlights in a lot of places that don't need it....
It looks like you're starting to loosen up a bit more with your pencils when compared to last year, your lines are starting to have more expression, a sign of more confidence.
Love diablo 3, waiting for the expansion to come out on console. I'm over crap internet connections.
Just regarding the Wretched mother, you've got a lot of contrast on her right knee and it's...
Not much to add this time, just a figure study. Haven't really been drawing too much in the last month or so.
Misty Feather - Thanks, it's just a matter of keeping it simple, I'll see if I can...
