Urban Christian Story website background design and logo + character design for my friend. I really enjoyed creating characters with an urban feel, especially the 'fro!
partially inspired by the work of martin and roger dean. they are so amazing.
a brand new piece of mine. I wanted to concentrate on night lighting and environments.
practice makes perfect! during these colder months, I am trying to crank out one finished piece per week. Im sure efficiency and competency will be heightened very much.
mushroom village is a much needed reworking of a piece I did last January. I cleaned up the lines, added much more detail and more contrast. Blue/red android was an attempt at a piece dramatizing...
thanks for the advice, but i feel the difference between the reference photo and mine is that my character is extremely strained and tense. I also found these references that show definition of that...
took the advice and actually traced the photograph onto the piece. I hope it is more structurally correct now.
thanks guys. I did use a relatively similar reference, I'll post below. I'm going to work on the chin and maybe add more distinctive strokes between colors and shading to emphasize the painterly...
btw, this was originally done in watercolors, then scanned in. you can see bits of the water color texture in the hair, which i personally like
Im working on this piece and wanted to try a new style...something a bit looser and more painterly. However, I am still getting the feeling the piece does not look finished and/or is lacking in some...

really great work! i love the color palette and usage of shading/gradients. I would suggest tightening up the folds in zelda's shirt, that is the only part that seems a bit out of place and sketchy....
really beautiful work. complex, but simple at the same time. are the first two paintings in traditional media or digital? they look like pastels.
love it! foggy but glittering. I love to mix deep greens and reds to create more complex blacks...this may work great for this piece to add deeper dark tones.
awesome work! reminds me of a mixture of hellraiser and Dali. Wonderful ability to form/shade flesh
below is some new work of mine, as well as some revisions/edits to old work. I have been struggling to produce alot of new work, because every time I think I am finished with my thesis...there is...
i apologize for not being on for a few months; i have been working on my master's thesis and will be done in just one week. anyway, there are a few fantasy art contests i will be submitting art...
finally figured out the photoshop problem. have been working on my thesis for two straight months. its due in december, hence the lack of art. soon though, soon! anyway, shrunk the head a bit on my...
sorry i have not revised this...photoshop is saying my subscription expired. WTF
great work! what software did you use for this? the textures are unique and varied, from the grass to the rock to the water
thanks! I'll get to work
it is a bit big, but i am not sure if his head is too big or that his shoulders are too small
My own illustration of Andrei Taganov from Ayn Rand's novel "we the living." I wanted to capture the stuffy air of a small bedroom in soviet russia, around the russian revolution - early 1920's....
thanks for the advice. i'll definitely consider the eye of horus
thanks for the comments and the reference. super helpful!
