Here's the preliminary drawing before I go to the painting. Any thoughts?
Ok so here's the finished product...sorry for the bad photo it's an oil painting and I'm not quite comfortable with scanning it yet. I want to make sure it's absolutely dry.
I think your attention to an accurate space marine suit is good. I'm guessing the evil guys are Tyranids? If that's the case you want to make them more accurate. But I didn't read the fluff you...
Yeah the last few show a huge jump
I would definitely get reference for the hand, and see what someone would actually be doing if they were playing with their hair like that. Right not it seems a little unnatural to be holding his own...
Also I definitely hear what you're saying about full range of values...the drawing is mostly just to setup the picture from the reference. I'm going to finish it as a black and white oil painting so...
Building the miniature was so fun definitely try it!
So I'm experimenting with using miniature setups for reference...it's super fun! I still haven't decided how much I want to rely on the setup...weather to just use it for...

I'm finding the perspective and construction of the building confusing.
You're definitely right I did not put enough thought into where the objects are or what they are.
So here's the next stage. According to the assignment I had to move forward with color. I tried to think of values in terms of large areas. Also my teacher suggested adding objects to...
When you say that it makes a lot of sense to me because I am more of a drawer than a painter. Also your advice resembles one of my oil painting class's lessons which is to divide the large areas of...
This is my first digital painting, obviously wip. I'm specifically keeping it to the circle brush and value. I'm looking for help on making the cave recede in space....
Anatomically it appears as if his forearm gets too narrow too fast. And if you are going for consistent lighting then StefRob said is true about the background contradicting the sunset. Although for...
