Nose is pointing up, chin is pointing down. Too many similar browns are making visual mush.
Get some refs of feet.
Is she supposed to be a medusa type character or have dreds?
Just me - if that were my brief, I'd be looking for different roads and plant life, not just a different front of the same gate posted onto the same background six times. To me, that screams that...
Draw more accurate figures to help with your construction. This guy has a lot of problems.
The tools work pretty much the same way that paint does, in that if you don't understand form, structure, light and shadow, or color, it won't magically fix those problems for you.
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brains (book) has some great discussions about how our brains simply objects into symbols for the sake of recognition and filing speed.

Ever see the non serious guys in a life drawing class? Ain't pretty. Nor is what they tend to draw.
Guys who 'get laid' consistently have also realized that women are more than a vehicle for...
Without knowing your goals (both in general and for the piece) its hard to know where to start.
Your brush strokes feel very stiff and uncomfortable, as well as appearing to be streaky for no...
Steps for drawing a water dragon:
1. Imagine the concept.
2. Gather reference materials as needed.
3. Gather tools.
After seeing the work posted, I think that's the real issue. There's a great lil comic about the trials of being a freelance illustrator - http://freelanceswitch.com/tag/freelance-freedom/
Hate to break it to you, but there are plenty of comics that have seen success without celebrity endorsements. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Goblins! are just two right off the top of my head that are...
Ilkae for putting together a new challenge, and soldiering through it every week!
