The background is a watercolor splash from Callum Alexander Watt.
I wanted to do design retro style robot. I recently had a job designing retro style robots/vehicles and it was a ton of fun. Since I cannot show those designs yet, I wanted to do my own that I could show.:)
SketchUp, KeyShot, Photoshop.
A sketch of Moebius. My portrait skills suck, but I really wanted to have a go at his style.
I really love Callum Alexanders style and method. I wanted to have a go at it.
I don't know why, but I always love it when the illustrations are just simple lines with a white inlayed on top of them. For some reason it makes it so rediculously eye popping for me! :)
These new little 'doodles' are so interesting it hurts. You should try doing a whole bunch of these, and then picking like two or three and fleshing them out a bunch.
Anyway, other than that, keep up the good work.
Can't wait to see more :)
Here is a little teaser from my next design.:) More coming soon.
A little retro gadget for those hard working engineers in the field.:)
Mat Kaminski- I totally agee with you. I have always been drawn to lines on colored paper with white highlights. It's just looks good.:)
Jarrad- thank you.
I think I am getting really close to capturing the watercolor feel with a digital medium.
Everyone's favorite monster hunter.
My entry into The Dark Knight Rises T-Shirt Contest over at designbyhumans.com.
I only had about a day and half from start to finish. Didn't get a chance to explore more ideas, but I was very happy with the final design.
After some critiques and advice I made some changes.Too bad it's to late to change my submission. Oh well.
If you would like to vote:
More experiments.:) I made some fantastical changes from the original Owl ref.
Awesome work as always... it's amazing some of the stuff you do with watercolors and/or ink washes.
This is a great sketchbook - working my way through it!
Mat Kaminski-thanks. This work is actually all digital. I have finally found a way to duplicate watercolors digitally.
ian_ruff- thanks. I hope you enjoy your stay.:)
Inspired by Joe Mads' work.
A mix between my style and Otomo.
