wow- I like your versatility.
The most impressive thing so far is how expressive your faces are.
Looking good so-far. There are some areas that seem like they need attention ,but I think you got a good grip on it already. Just keep working and draw all of the time. Good job.
are my favorites! :)
how do you do when you paint digital and what programs are you using?
the faces is a point you need to focus more on, you already know soemwhat how the body works, so you need to get the other parts up to the same level, so concentrate on faces and hands for a little while, maybe do a few pages of studies on hands and faces each day, just to bring it up fast.
you do have some badass pencil-skillz!
its looking fantastic, really keep at it. i see massive improvement :D
First of all hi. The Guy on the Boar is my favorite of your ideas and compositions. I like the concept very much and the realtionship between man and boar you portray in the piece appeal to me (no i dont have a boar or pig fetish, maybe a pork chop one, but not hte whole animal). The man's buttocks looks is a bit ood to me maybe make it longer and squisher, or maybe widen the hips? Ither way I'd love to see it through to final!
Overall your work is very good (compared to myself), can't wait too see more!
Katsaros, Thanks for looking at my SB. I'm pleased that you like the design with the guy on the animal. I was kinda tryin to put him on a buffalo actually. My friend and I were talking about a concept on natives using them as tanks of sorts. I'll probably try to develope the idea further.
Thank You Again
Your cuddly self is very well done, I like evrything about it. Well done mate.
come on big man! :P want to see more of ure magic! :)
wow! I was going to give you some advice on your coloring but your thread kept going and going and there was so much improvement. compare your self portrait to your red devil! amazing progress
so now I dont have anything else to say except keep working in the same style as the self portrait! ^_^
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I'm becoming a digital painting junky! I'll update pretty soon. I haven't sketched in a while and my anatomy is pretty bad. Keep an eye out.
wow. it looks like youve improved a Lot since your first post. maybe try wokring on some scenery. i agree with smellykitty that the coloring on your sp is the best. i think the variety in values makes the face really pop out. looks awesome. will you color the pigs for me? theyre so cute :)
Buffalo, yeah thats cool. Boars have tusks (better attack maybe) but they aint as big as buffalo (I think). I mean over here the closest thing we have is a wombat and they are only about 1/2 meter tall, but built like tanks.
The concept sounds really exiciting to me, if you want a hand with some finer details (i.e.saddles, riegns, animal head armor ect), im keen to have a go. With permission of course.
I like your speedpaints but your paintings are on not this level as should be
Great SP! The fact that you worked out all the line-art (if you used it at all) puts it on another level the rest, there is almost always some traces of the line-art left that bugs the eye. Don't be afraid of painting on top of the line-art rather then between it.
Generally you seem to do a lot of very busy compositions in your imaginary work and somewhat neglect the silhouette, I think it would be a good idea to do some simple silhouette studies, just work with a white BG and do Black silhouettes where you fill the whole character. Think of it as characters being strongly lit from behind, leaving sharp shadows on a thin white screen.
Your life studies are especially nice, I can't really see any environments though? And I second suhsealyuh, the pigs are just great.
suhsealyuhThanks for looking. I actually used one of the pigs for a microbeer logo in Oregon, I'll attach it on another post.
Katsaros Feel free to design some saddles or whatever tickles your fancy. We are a team as a sketch group and I'mtotally open to help.
designbootThank you for the comment. I've gotta long way to go!
JoveThanks man for the crit. Thank you for getting this SSG started. I've been teatering between so many disciplines that I've failed to master any. Environments are daunting, I'll give them a try!
some nice designs here. I think you are improving real fast with your digi stuff.
to help with your coloring maybe keep in mind that colors change and diffuse with light on objects. a shadow might have more red or more blue in it than a the midtone. and a highligh might have more yellow in it. depends on the object. Hope I help? Looking forward to watching you improve.
ohhh your oils are nice! and I love the red face. as for getting your digitals to sorta look like your oils, maybe you are using the wrong program? are you using photoshop? have you tried open canvas?
awesome range of media! Great sketchbook!...you got skillz!
Love the animal sketches most of all I think.
No real crits, keep it coming!
I see you want to improve your digital painting too, same here. I am finding the best inspiration just wandering around CA...doing a couple COW's...oh man there is some awesome stuff around! There is great stuff in here too =)
Sick air brush skills. Can't wait to try my hand at a Buffalo Tank Acessories! Im gathering references now.
big mas is back. the speedo guy is wicked!
teh little child. i think there is something odd with his nose?
and now where is this hulk ive been hearing about? :P
keep at it!
hey mate thanks for your visit in my sb.
your pencils are nice and i like your monsters... they are really kickass.
keep it on
the new studies are great!! I love your hands and those sexy butts!
since you are painting the big green, it might be nice to see him in a different lighting? we all know hes green, but what would he look like under a bluish lighting, are really yellow street lights? just a thought, maybe for some future drawings!
for the last WIP be sure to compare it to the original sketch! I can already see how youve deviated from the original pose. I dont know how you personally feel about this, I just know that from my personal experience my sketches have a lot of energy in them, and sometimes I lose that energy if im not paying careful attention when painting!
looking foward to see more
SmellyI'm a big fan of butts, not in the sir mixalot way, just a fan Thanks!
I think the different lighting idea is a great idea. I'm just now getting the clue that color does so much for the mood of a piece of art. In the past I would look at something and recreate it, and now that I'm drawing stuff that I've conceived in my head, I realize just how uncreative I am. I think the last WIP is stiff, and yes sticking to our original, quick, and life filled sketches would work better. I'm too wrapped up in the details. Thanks for the ideas and observations.:D
Definately heading in the right direction bro, Keep it up. real nice updates. I see tons of artistic growth.
DarafThank you! I really enjoyed your SB and Website/s. You have a lot of really good advice.
Nice muscle stuff in your last set of sketches, try some skeletons, give em guns and sh1t to make them look cool.
Sometimes the best form of attack for getting better is to draw what you don't think your good at ( usually breasts for me ;) ).
Sweat to see someone in our SSG that posts reguarly. Should probably PM the other daily posters asking what the go is. Anyway keep on rolling.... like a tumble weed, are they real? Or just in the movies? pfff dont answer ill Google it.
Katsaros, my friend I totally agree about drawing what your weak at. " A chain is only as strong as its weakest link". I'm doing a few pages on hands and heads. I got my bluff called on them and decided it's time for a tune up. Thanks for swinging by my humble SB. Take a gander at one of my sculpt threads and tell me what you think.
Sculpting in polymer clay
YEAh! there they are
in the hulk piece it looks like he is falling of teh cliff. cuz hes leaning forard to much to be standing there.
love the collored pencil one!
keep at it!
