A study I did of a statue of Joan of Arc - from photo. I would love to see the actual statue at Notre Dame, as I am in love with it.
Anyway, I blew the study as I ended up enlongating her face - the statue's face is far more "boxy." But aside from that caveat, I think it came out fair.
Pencil on paper.
All the best,
Really nice rendering of Joan of Arc, great presentation as well.
Thanks for sharing,
Strong pencil renders dude- very tight and accurate! Your creatures rock! :)
Oregano, your sketchbook is an absolute inspiration. Especially the work you did for DEEP; that's a fascinating world you created. Great rendering skills, and very fun designs. I'm subscribing.:rendered:
Beautiful work here Oregano!. Truly inspirational body of work. Loads of improvement is easy to see from the beginning of this thread. You should be proud of your achievements. Keep posting, i would love to see more of your studies.
Lovely pencil work Oregano!
I really like those two jester/alien characters from the previous page. Awesome designs.
Here's one that I did originally on a sticky note at work, and then redid in painter last night after working on the mermaid for Chow.
All the best,
That one is particularly engaging, Shane. The simplicity and complexity are woven like a fine silk. Like a chunky strawberry-banana smoothy.
I enjoyed peeking through your sketchbook, some really amazing work in here. Your pencil work is amazing!
The improvement over the last couple of years is awesome Shane. The one thing I'd like to see you work more on is presentation/graphic design skills. I think that a break through in that area will help your work immensely. We need to get you down to Seattle one of these days.
Interesting thing is, I am a graphic designer by trade - that's my day job right now. I tend to avoid it when I'm doing my artwork, because I do it all day long.
You can see some of it slip out if you troll the Chow threads - I did all the header graphics and buttons there.
But, you're right. I should spend more time on that than just slapping the stuff on the page. Jason got on my ass about the the same thing.
I TOTALLY love that mask thing. It is creepy as hell! Awesome!
okay that was fun. Going back to draw draw draw. I'm not intimidated.. :davi:
Oh well i'll just have to get over it and do what i have to do
It was looking through your sketchbook :D
ohhh looking forward to that oil being finished! that mask character has a lot of.. character! :D would love to see him developed more and maybe have some mask friends.. build a franchise of creepy critters!
Gooood stuff here man! That oil thing looks tasty, looking foreward to seeing that finished:)
Awesome mask character! I'm with Stoph on that one.. do more of those guys! :) Thanks for dropping by my thread! I'll post something real soon! Promise! :P
[EDIT] Stopped by your blog.. you've got more mask dudes! Post 'em on here as well! :) [/EDIT]
Great stuff! Five stars from me! Cheers!
Nice work man!
Come out, Come out,
Wherever you are.
Intense and beautiful designs. I also love the Joan of Arc. I am fascinated by her. Hope we will see more work from you soon. Cheers
