The Panic Station
Hello all, this is my first outing on the site. Long time fan of all the work here so thought it would be nice to become a member of the community:)
I'll be posting all my finished pieces here so hopefully you'll want to check back :)
This is a painting I did for my father's 50th Birthday from the series Mad Men.
I hope to find some time for more paintings soon, but in the mean time, I hope you enjoy my work and thanks for taking time out to view :)
All The Finest
what media ru using ? painter ?
juliuslim - I used Photoshop for this. Custom brushes mostly. In future I want to look using Painter though, but for now, I use what I know :)
Thanks for checking out my work guys
Very nice piece of work.
:O Is that girl in the picture single? ;P
I really like this a lot...
+1 for Mad Men. ^_^
Love the brush strokes.. for some reason the composition bothers me, but I can't place what exactly.. It just feels incomplete. Other than that, brilliant. :)
Yeah I know what you mean about the composition - although it's based on a promotional photo shoot they did, and I remember thinking the same thing - but, that said, it spoke enough for me to want to give it a shot in paint :)
Yeah, really beautiful work. I actually really like the composition. It's a great portrait of the sexual power she has. The looming architecture in the background creates a dark and structured environment. She is a flame gliding through that, She knows how she attracts men and she enjoys the power that gives her. You have her in the centre of a triangle of men and she is in complete control of all of them. The characters are hyper real, totally believable. I like your rendering style too. It's reminding me of those great painted movie posters for Indiana Jones and Star Wars from the 80's. The whole thing is great.
Thank you Scott. Saying the rendering style reminds you of those things is a massive compliment as they have always been a huge inspiration to me!! Made my day - Thank you :)
I'm hoping to do a film poster project soon, either for a great 80's movie or a movie that had a terrible poster that deserved something better...
I'm open to suggestions people! :)
