Part time to full time
I have a quick question about TAD. I want to take TAD's full time program one day, but I have no time with all the work I already have. I will most definitely take some foundation classes, however.
My question is, if one day I decide to take the full time program, will I have to retake the classes I already took?
Heya Alternative! I was curious about this myself, so I emailed Destiny Green, who is one of the live chat people on TAD's website. The response--
"A student going from part time to full time must apply to the full time program through Slideroom where he or she will be reviewed for admissions and scholarships. The student also uses the application to choose a full time payment option, or to take advantage of an early payment discount (only offered to full time students.) Any part time classes taken count toward a full time schedule and are generally used as a small break in the full time foundations coursework. Please let me know if you have any additional questions."
So you have to (re-)apply as a full-time student, but you keep the credits and have a slightly freer schedule. :) Good news for us!
JesseM, I know the credits count, but from the response you got it sounds like you still end up having to pay for the class TWICE even if you only took it once, since there's nothing about a discount in the payment for classes you've already taken. If that's the case, shouldn't you be allowed to take it again if you wanted to since you basically have to pay for it again anyway? or is there something I'm missing? :S
uh... now that you mention it, Amarok, I'm reading it that way too...
..something I asked her, though, was what would happen if students didn't have to take the class again after all--would they just have some free time in their schedule or could they fill it with an elective, etc, and since she replied "..generally used as a small break," it seems like you could maybe replace it with an elective, if you wanted to..?
You would not have to pay for a class twice. If your first semester is 6 classes instead of 7, because you have taken one as a part time student, then so be it. I am unsure if you can take an elective instead.
They are very willing to work with you if you need anything special. i would chat with TAD through the website. You will get much quicker and more accurate responses.
