hit me with crits
Hi, I'm RyanRyan. I'm in my mid 20's. I work/study across alot of mediums (animation, graphics, illustration, traditional mediums) but I'm finding myself a jack of all trades, master of none.
I'm pretty much concentrating on anatomy right now, but there should be other stuff thrown in. I'm in this for the long haul.
a few more
quick ten mins without ref
study for today
on screen reference
30 min landscape from google image search
It's a little saturated and inaccurate.
pose maniacs today about 2 mins each my tendency is to distort characters so proportion is going to be more of a focus in the future
the other is a poster I did a while back took me about 6 hours in total including layout and logotype no refs
Your stuff looks good so far, especially for no reference. You seem to have a good balance of studies and imagination pieces. I did notice many of your works were done quick. I'd like to see some studies and/or imagination art that takes you a couple of hours, this will allow us to see your full potential. Keep it up, man, you're doing great!
right before bed
xmas has been pretty slack. picking up this week hopefully
fold studies from ron tiner
dig that green shirt dude in post 2. pretty neato. keep it up
I like the cloth sketches! Keep up the good work!
Lovely sketchbook. You did a great job in just 10 minutes!
Whoa, I only can draw a stick man in 10 minutes :D
thanks for the compliments and the encouragement folks
screencap study from crouching tiger- playing around with the simulated brush stuff which I haven't done much of
some graphic design stuff I churned out today
going to start doing more accurate portrait studies because the screen cap study is awful
trying to do more structure of man stuff and will do more!
a little more work on this piece from imagination which is always a tricky business
Great value study up above. Also, your clothing studies are really interesting. Hadn't thought to do those but I just might now.
@akkibox I just picked up hogarth - dynamic wrinkles and drapery hope to do more studies like them
a bit more work
can some one please crit this lighting? I don't really light from this angle at all
some torso study stuff before I go to bed
Hmm...the lighting in #18 is just all over the place really... :\
You've got backlight rim highlights, and a strong spotlight effect on his face.
Where is the lighting coming from?
If you're interested in that spotlight effect, check out works by Caravaggio or Artemisia (who worked in his style, somewhat differently).
Maybe that will help your imagination.
But for now, work from a reference!
Good luck :)
RyanRyan your two desert scapes are great, they have more presence and gesture than your figures, but I think that will come along soon. Good luck, keep up the good work!
@kiwi there is supposed to be one light coming from slightly below the figure, a secondary/backlight along with some ambient fill light. I'm sure I'll figure it out. In any case I should be doing some master studies any way just because I have never really done any. Thanks!
@Janit cheers! im going to keep plugging away at it
some 90 second figure stuff- going to have to do more of this to get back into the swing of it, it's been about 3 years since I did any life drawing but I can feel it coming back to me
some resolved lighting issues but by no means finished and some more gestures
studies for today
some landscapes from photos
i like the b&w one
and more 90 second stuff along with some skulls off the top of my head
some street fashion shot stuff
torso studies with varying degrees of success
