DSG 288: Misc Design: Organic Armor

Today's topic is: Misc Design: Organic Armor

Mad Giraffe December 12th, 2003 05:25 AM

scales...carapace...but is mutated metal also possible?..y'know..'normal'armor..with eyes end limbs attached to it:D;)

Edit: sorta like thast big guy from soul calibur2..
this guy ...upper body :D

Signature December 12th, 2003 07:46 AM

Mad Giraffe: I think that would qualify. But ouch that's ... disturbing ;)

I hope I'm the first with this concept ... probably everybody does that :D
Is it possible to recognize anything? Then I'll start coloring it.

First I thiught it is a funny idea.
Then the feeling grew that I have seen something like that somewhere!?
In a daily sketchbook maybe?

beetlebum -- That is too funny!

snowball -- The best thing you can learn about the figure is the center of gravity. Draw a straight line from the top-center of his head and go straight down. As you will see, your guy will fall backwards. Correct that one issue, and you will be amazed at how much more convincing your figure will be. The costume details are great, and I especially love the spear tip.

signature -- that poor turtle is looking right at me!

Snowball December 12th, 2003 10:44 AM

Thanks for the tip Wystro, I really appreciate it! :)

This is such a neat topic! The last two topics were really interesting also. I tried to make time for them but failed. :( I've got too many Christmas commission orders which I can't slack on finishing. I like this one especially because it could go so many ways... Could be armor for humans made from parts of animals or wood, it could be creatures with natural armoring (like a snail's shell!) And it could also be some kind of organic growing creature that has a symbiotic relationship with another creature or human to grow over/on them and provide armor.

Well, it's Friday... maybe I can sqeeze some DSG time in!

geeesus h. christ!this took me far too long for my intention!
i think i doodled with it around an hour.

the idea behind it is that the armor drains power from the bearer, thus the bloodspots(sounds familiar,eh?).

This is sort of an intelligent energy being that can summon various lower forms of animal life to form a body. In this case, it's a massive nest of hardshell swamp beetles.

very nice stuff retrosolid.

plaf December 12th, 2003 03:52 PM

on many of the islands in the phillipines, they traditionally created ceremonial leather armour, studded with seashells and starfish to symbolize the symbiosis of man, land and sea. they wore them on their holidays and in their games, they weren't very well suited for combat, although they did from time to time serve in this capacity as well

danielh: good idea.
davi: looks cool!
retrosolid: looks like someone you wouldn't wanna run into in a dark alley =) sweeter than a sweet thing!

all the best.

Monkey on My Back/Taken Over

My first ever DSG post.

Hope you all like it.

Prehistorical Robot

This is my very first post !!!
(and proud about that).
Surely I 'll come back.

I thought it would be nice if a (not organical) robot choses organical armor (coconut helmet, turtle shield, wooden fence, leather cape). It 's drawn with a pencil in app. 90 min.

danielh68: That's a great idea! And excellent painted too!

Interesting topic, kudos to the origonator.

Messing around in photoshop again-

Kind of just drew it but imagine if this was a suit that you slip on, or a suit that 3 midgets slip on to go into battle.

I'm excited to see the other posts, so far they are very different and cool!

Wystro December 12th, 2003 06:26 PM

Another meat suit! We can have a barbeque!

Welcome, dfacto and SecondChance -- two well-rendered entries and great first posts!

My attempt... wish I had time to do it over again, started thinking of ways to do it 'better' as I was doing it. Just dont have time to start over again :)

Maybe later tonight, if I dont get caught up in playing Savage.
