(aggghhhh damn word limits, really screwd this one up. please read these three posts in reverse order)
my interests may be different from yours as i think i would ideally be a full time fine artist. (i find it hard working in teams )

here is me a while back posting a similar question you may find it useful : http://www.artforum.com.au/vtopic13763.html
and here is a link to a very clunky website of my work that i really need to update if your interested

    hope that all helps,
regards from your fellow Melbourne drawing/paining enthusiast,
    harry

i was highly unsatisfied with the fine art course because of the low hours that you spend being taught by a teacher. where as at tafe you go to school everyday and have multiple subjects everyday. you have a sustained practical course at tafe and i wish i had gone there instead of uni. many of the teachers from rmit uni drawing also teach at the Rmit tafe.
the main reason to go to rmit fine art would be to get contacts in the art world and to strengthen the conceptual content of your work ,something which i always thought was none of there business and isn't something you can teach. you seem to have a rich world of ideas to draw from anyway from the look of your sketch books.

    hi tronrobot,
i saw you post on magic man's sketchbook which i follow. and thought i might drop you a line re getting the education you want.
i have completed 2 and a half years of the drawing fine art degree at rmit, and have also taken part in the digital art elective that darren (magicman) took in the games design dep at rmit.

you could do the same thing if you wanted, that is, do fine art and then take darren's subjects as ellectives.

however if your looking for actual practical skill sets i wouldn't go to rmit uni at all! id go to RMIT tafe.
i was highly unsatesfied with the fine art course because of the low hours that you spend being taught by a teacher. where as at tafe you go to school everyday and have multiple subjects everyday. you have a sustained practical course at tafe and i wish i had gone there instead of uni.....

Hi, I had to discard my Sketchbook, got ahead of myself. (You might want to edit or delete your comment.)

    Thanks for your post.
Regarding Digital Painting, the main things I don't like is that the end result object is just like a poster, or an illustration.

Although I guess there are some alternative ways to print it, but I'm not familiar with those techniques.

Like you mentioned, I was talking mainly about sketches.

Thanks, yeah, the GN'R drawing was one of my first feats.

I saw your sketchbook, you have a very nice style. The one I liked the most was

    take care.
