I am in the midst of creating a game built on the XNA framework and am in need of some in-game artwork. The game engine is largely still in development, about 80% complete I would say, and having some quality sprites and animations would largely help in moving the game toward completion. Gameplay follows similarly to that of R-Type, but with some engaging and compelling twists. My intention is for music to play a large role in how the game is played, which will hopefully provide for a fresh experience within the genre.

From an artistic standpoint, I primarily need sprites and animations (if possible) for the main ship, several weapons, and possibly a title screen. I know this is a tall order, but if you could provide even a fraction of what I need, I would be extremely grateful and offer some compensation. The overall art style would ideally parallel to something seen in a graphic novel, specifically:

www.konami.jp/gs/game/mgs_dgn/comic/comic_01.html (http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/mgs_dgn/comic/comic_01.html)

I know I may be shooting for the stars here, but something along these lines would be pristine. One of my greatest concerns is for the game to be unique in both design and style; having graphics that in some way reflect what is seen in the above link would help the game to stand out.

I would love to elaborate on my vision for gameplay, art, and sound to anyone who may be interested. Please reply to this post or send me an IM if you feel you would like to help! Thanks for you time!

[***EDIT: More compensation details:
$50 per sprite sheet (The primary ship will have between 3 and 5 animation sequences, but nothing too intricate)
$50 per background (A background would consist of one or two large panoramic views that are consistent with the overall style of the game).
$75-100 for title screen and logo.

For any further inquiries, please reply to this post or email to: josh_garwood@hotmail.com Thanks for your time.]

I should state that by sprites, I don't mean you need to do pixel by pixel work. The game will be in HD, so I can simply use your drawings directly in the game. If you are at all interested, please let me know and I will forward you a design document outlining the game in its entirety. Please inform me if you would like to talk about compensation as it is negotiable. Thanks!

Hello,

I am very interested in the project and would like to discuss it further. I have experience creating art for both graphic novels and retro-styled shooting games. I have been contemplating an approach to sprites that uses elements of both, employing layering to create sprites with rich, shifting textures. Your timing is perfect -- I believe this project is right up my alley.

I have been unable to contact you via AIM. You can reach me by AIM (RevxlvingDxxr) or email (sleepingpaint@gmail.com.)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you to all who replied and expressed interest in this project. I recently filled this position with a very prominent artist with whom I am very excited to work. Thanks again and good luck to you all with your future projects!
