Im working on improving my rendering skils.
This image was drawn in marker and edited in photoshop.

It looks scattered and distracted for some reason. I think i might need to unify the colors and lights better, any advice on this would be highly
appreciated.

I would also like to give a better sense of form of the various parts, give a better sense of material, as well as give it a better presenataion.

Please advise. Thanks so much.

What you could try and do is put a Color layer on top and set it at a low opacity to try and bring the existing colours together.

Nice creature design.

the warm red, brown and orange are really clashing w/ the light blue

i like the drawing

Longwrat: Actually there's already a red Ocher colored layer set at a low opacity setting on the image.. but I'll fiddle with it more.

Recall: Good Point. I think colors might need better consideration as I start out next time. This is the first time Ive ever used markers, so I guess I can only get better right? :)

At this point, I guess I can tune down the saturation on some of the really bright orange areas to give them more of a tarnished brass look rather than a Enamel! look.

Thanks guys, any other comments will be sincerely appreciated.

Can't do a paintover on this computer unfortunately, so I'll try and put it in words. (uni comp)
Perspective is bothering me a little. Front legs are aligned different from the second pair of legs. He also seems to be turned, but some parts are perfect sideviews (head, neck, front of the torso). Also, the "tube" on his back seems to be turned our way, since we can look inside it on the end. I'll just see if I can do a paintover back home, this monitor is killing me -.-
I like the design by the way, especially how the metal bones really look animal-like.

Damn you and your good eye... >:|

I never even caught that until you pointed it out.. it looks so obvious now... the parts of the pelvis are turned toward the viewer towards the left where as the back metal braces are turned towards the right..

This is what you mean right? (see below)

Thanks for pointing this out...uniform prespective is something I really need to pay more attention to.

Cheers... and thanks so much.. :^^:

As far as colors go, you might want to change that red to a deep or midnight blue. Make it look slick and oily. I think you should also tone down those bright golds on the ridge of it's back. I'm also assuming that the ridge goes along the line of the spine and does not come out towards the viewer (as you already indicated). The pelvis can be fixed by adding shadow (I think) and figuring out if there would be a cast shadow by the ridge on the back onto the body might also help with the perspective.

Yea, think you hit the nail on the head there with the paintover.
Separate parts look good, but they don't all match up. Not sure how that happened, did you do a sketch at first or just started straight away? Tends to happen down here ;[
Rendering looks great, guess I'll have a look at the use of markers and colored layers. Keep it up! I'd love to see more from you.
