Hey everybody, I'm magma and I thought I'd attempt a sketchbook, hopefully this works. The vast majority of the work is from my undergraduate portfolio, my degree was in biological/pre-medical illustration and I'm starting grad school this fall to get my Masters in medical illustration.
Mostly this is just for fun, but critiques are always appreciated!

Those were some pieces from a figure drawing class I took. The top 2 are a diptic self-portrait.

These were just a few illustrations from various classes.

Those images were done just for fun, the top one while bored in a histology class (which I later colored in Painter) and the Joker while I was bored at work. It's still in progress though.

This last piece was my first professional illustration upon graduating. It's a collaborative piece, and medical illustrator hired me to render it in Photoshop (he drew it).

Compliments and critiques are appreciated!

Well, I'm getting kind of tired of painting this guy in my free time at work, so here is the final.

Nice work dude. I love your Life Studies. They're really full-looking and 3d-like.

I love your one piece of the reflection off the front of the car, very detailed stuff. I also got a laugh out of the comic with the guy falling off the roof. Keep em coming man, very clean stuff.

Here's some stuff I did at my internship at a medical illustration/animation studio. Since I was a lowly intard I only got to do vector projects that didn't actually get used for anything, but you get to see them at least! They're all done in Flash, with the exception of a little bit of Photoshop layered on it a few places for added detail.

Sweet. I got an exam on a course called "Brain and Behavior" tomorrow. Thought I could get away from my studies for a moment by browsing through sketchbooks here, but apparantly I couldn't. :)

WOW your sketchbook is awsome... those first drawings, congratulations :) Really an inspiration. Those corrections you made on the figure drawing classes, the all process great. I wish i could understand them. I always mess around proportions so bad that i cant relate anythin. : )
