hey guys i was just watching Mark Goerners dvd on rendering and i noticed that he can do his lines perfectly straight. It looks like he used a path as it has anchor points but he then draws the line free hand and it was straight was wondering if anyone knew this technique or another as my lines always look quite rough and jagged

I have the same problem. I'm not really sure if this is what you're looking for, but I found that drawing at about 400%+ the size you want the final to be helps, since all the wiggles dissapear when you shrink it. Also using quick strokes helps a lot.

If you hold shift while drawing it'll draw a straight vertical or horizontal line. If you continue to hold shift and then click again, it'll draw a straight line between where you clicked off and where you clicked on.
Not sure if that's what you're after, but that's all I can come up with.

if you use the pen tool in the freeform (I think thats what its called....in the top menu bar its the pen with the squiggly line next to it) mode it will smooth the lines. If your after real vectory lines use the pen tool, and then use the bezier[sp] lines. It can take longer though. I just tend to try get a fluid line by drawing smoothly on the tablet...sometimes takes a few goes (good old Ctrl+Z):P
