View Full Version : supporting the site and the ladies of conceptart.org

Only 134 of the chicks calandars have sold in five months. If you want this site to stay here, open to the public, without membership fees or dozens of flashing banner ads, please buy a calandar. The ladies worked incredibly hard on that.
We hope you members will support this community that you take so much from every day. 134 calandars, while there is great appreciation for those who purchased them, is a disappointing number to see.

Thanks. Sad..but true.
Perhaps we need an icon that goes by the usernames which is for those who support the site...like a badge of honor. Any ideas for what that badge might look like?

Unfortunately, I had order for a Pin-Up calendar, supporting the site and all. Was on January 19th... And then, nothing. :(
I guess it's lost somewhere.

a calendar is only usefull once a year I think you mean it's useful 365 days a year ;) And don't forget the calendar is yearless, so you can buy one at any point and use it for 365 days forward :)

As described in the official calendar thread (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=86463), if you have any questions regarding your order Please send an email to Lesta@massiveblack.com, she'll take care of ya! :) Please include your order description in the email.

I'd suggest bundling them with any of the MB DVDs for a little extra cash. I could see them moving pretty quickly that way.

I'm buyin' a calender and later a bit of something else I can wear at the Comic-Con.
Thank you for the reminder! :D
(Edit to add: I see there's a calender/t-shirt combo - that's what I'll be ordering this week!)

The t-shirts & calendars are located "inhouse" and packaged up & shipped by Lesta, which is why we were able to make a t-shirt/calendar special deal.
Unfortunately the DVDs are not sold or shipped "inhouse," they are sold/created/shipped from the customflix warehouse (wherever that is), so at this time there is no way to combine the two (as far as I know). Sorry to dissappoint ya. :/
But thanks to everyone who has made a merchandise purchase so far! :) It really means a lot to the girls who dedicated themselves to making the calendar, and the people who enjoy the resources of this site.

The calendar's gorgeous, but I'd personally be more interested in a 'Chicks Who Draw Dicks' calendar >.> <.<;
Kidding aside, will be pimping the calendar to my friends, and once all the bills are paid, I'll see if I can save up for a copy of my own. Or maybe get someone else to buy one for me. Cough. Damn birthday's still six months away.
(cheers CA on!)

Oh snap! I just thought of something - while I don't have a table at SDCC this year, a crapload of my friends do. I could see if any of them are willing to give up enough table space to sell a stack of them... of course, the calendar is huge and it would be a lot to ask, but I'll give it a shot.
We gotta get these things out there, peoples!

That's a darn swell idea! I don't/won't have a table, but I'll be doing much networking - I can certainly do my part and pimp them calenders!
Just let me know what direction to point the masses at the Con! :cheerleader:

So far I have the skeletee, the calendar+peggie bundle, and I'm considering getting marko's dvd for myself for an early birthday pwesent.
I'm shocked that a mere 134 of those got sold, not just because of the quality of the work, but the volume of traffic on the site...
As for 'badges,' I think the little guy holding the flag (:yayca:) would be more than sufficient.

I also just hit up a few people I know at my local comic shop to see if we can sell a stack on consignment. Will know in a bit, I hope.
I think the late release of the calendar of last year and the fact that a lot of people don't realize that it's yearless were two strikes against this beauty... lesson learned. It has such potential though - I remember the night I took the subway back from MB with my calendars in hand, I was stopped by a (creepy) guy who practically grabbed one of the calendars from my hands, leafed through it and asked where he could get one right away. This was all within minutes of me walking out in public with them! :frustrated: I would have sold him mine right then and there but he didn't have any cash on him. :sadcheerleader:

Well ... that's sad. :( I thought they were a raging success. Well I know a few people that wanted one so I'll pitch it to them again. I really thought that they probably run out by now :S

I'm new here, but I'll toss in 2cents.
The "problem" with the calendar is the boobies! I don't mind them and I'm sure my parents (for example) would get over them, but I couldn't take one to my dorm with me. I know some people prefer to hang calendars in their offices/cubes, again a "no-go". The point is, even if CA.org members aren't prudes, their friends/family members/coworkers/house guests might be.
the idea of a yearless calender also sounds great, but I personally prefer being able to look up and see what day of the week I'm on etc. and that works better with "yeared" calendars (ed: I just checked a higher-res photo and I see that you can write these in yourself, so scratch that). I know some people are probably fanatical about their calendars properly charting special holidays, moon phases... kinds of things that are year-dependent. no idea if that's actually a dealbreaker.
of course, without polling every single person who doesn't buy one, there's no way to say whether my thoughts hold merit. It just seems to me like the most likely explanation.
this has probably been brought up before... feel free to ignore the newb if you think I'm full of it :P

Thanks for a great community. I may not post my sketchbook, but I'm on constantly. Your mission in having this site is laudable, and it's a great inspiration. I can't wait for Shawn Barber's DVD, or Nox's for that matter.

DVDs are good n' all... but calendars are tasty too... and come on peeps, it's me and Sve's month! Don't you want to relish in the orange and tan glow of June in your very own studio?
Still no word from that comic place. A guy who works there sorta owes me a favor, so I haven't lost hope yet.

I plan on buying a calender and a t-shirt, I mean... being able to tell the date and wear clothes at the same time is somewhat appealing to me.
Just, I won't be able to for a couple of weeks.
How about some sort of CA.org stationary? Sure, we all know where to get pens, pencils, erasers, sketchbooks, etc. but at least this way we feel as though we're doing something, and it may just be nice to have a conceptart.org pencil, even if it was that bit more expensive...
(preferably with the Pegasus logo or something, 'cos that one is awesome.)
[Furthermore, I really think the user account ConceptArt.Org should write in the first person as though it is the forum, "If you don't buy the calenders I die!" Okay, wouldn't change anything, but it would be cuter and maybe guilt the soppier of us into buying something.]

I edited out some of the off topic, but well written, posts. The point is this...I believe we need to support both CA and the growing population of female artists in the community. The site is better for it, hands down. Please keep it up!!!

EDIT: deleted whining boring shit post about my life and not having money nor time ^^
I will buy a calendar if I have some money left from my summer job.
But it's quite a lot of money because of the shipping costs mainly, so I really have to save up for it.
I already have a t-shirt though.
And I am a chick on CA, so really I'm kind of helping to support Chicks on CA? :P
nah that last thing is kinda bullshit, :P
