Hi all, I am new here... I wanted to start a new thread dedicated to the Lord of the Rings movie.

Let's post art related and or inspired by the movie, the book or anything Tolkien...

I'd like to start this thread off with some recent sketches I have done to practice painting with a Wacom tablet and Painter 7. All these paintings were done very quickly (mostly between 1 and 3 hours). I used the DVD as a reference. The goal was to get some practice and not really to paint perfect portraits...

Anyway, here we go:

The one aboive is the last one I finished, it took 3.5 hours.

I will post more later. Your turn now! :)

Whoa, you did that in only 3 hours? Very impressive. You don't think they are highly detailed? I consider them marginally detailed and executed very professionally. The likeness of the english actor who played Gandalf in the first pic is strikingly similar. The pic of elijah wood as a hobbit seems rather odd though.
Anywayz, very impressive stuff, I like your style.

DAMN you're good! I went to your website and quickly tried out your tutorial. I've been dabbling in painter 7 for a week or two but haven't done anything worth a damn. Your tutorial has been a great help.

I spent about an hour and a half on this. It's sloppy as hell but it's my first try :)

Everyone: Thank you for the cool comments. Hearing good things about my art is very inspiring.

Romus: COOL! That's exactly what I am talking about. The artwork you show here is a great achievement, considering it only took you 1.5 hours. You captured the frame, its volume, colors and shapes very well. I am almost proud of myself thinking that my tutorials have inspired other artists.

Hey, if you have worked further on this, post it here.

Anybody else reading this: Do you have any LOTR artwork? Let's make this a big thread.
