@Wendigo: first I am impressed by your consistancy in 'Reya' her appearance.
I am curious about the 'whole' story behind this character, and what inspired you to draw this character to these "odd" yet angelic perportions.
What is your intention? Do you want her to appear more humanoid, or more 'alien' like?
If it's humanoid you're aiming for, you might want to reconsider certain perportion ratios of the various body parts. Else, I say go for it! Make her the best 'Reya' there is!

Thanks for the compliments. I guess I should give some more story details:
Reya started out as an angel, she broke one of heaven's laws and was cast down to earth after having her wings torn off. She smashed into the earth in the area that would become Detroit, and was discovered after a gas main explosion unearthed her body. After spending some time in a hospital she ended up working as a waitress in a strip club (I know that this sounds ridicules, but in the larger context of the whole story it makes a lot more sense). Being a former angel, Reya has not lost all of her powers; this fact often leads to unwanted attention.
About her proportions: Reya is supposed to look a little "Off," like she doesn't really belong, but it is supposed to be subtle. I'm glad you noticed.
I would like some feedback on the story itself, if anyone is interested in helping out, send me a personal message and I'll send you a copy of a script once I get it finished (hopefully in a couple weeks).

Okay here is another character from the Reya story. I call it Hamon, a formless Demon possesing a peicemeal body constructed by a madman. These are all just quick sketches, I hope to get some better stuff on here soon.

If there are any suggestions on how to make Hamon scarier please let me know.

@Wendigo: often what scares us the most, is the unknown; however just the same we tend to be frightened by that what we know just as well.
Anything that is instilled with trust, can be used 'against' us. So why don't you use the undefined cloth of fabric and put on him a nice suit. Or a black out-fit with something of a 'priest' colar. Or something that might resambles it?
Look for something familiar that is commonly accepted, then give it a "twist" by allocating it to the 'bad guy'.

This is another important character from the series that I am in the process of creating. She is Reya's Best friend, roomate, and lover.

@Wendigo: ... hrm, she doesn't appear to be significantly 'different' from Reya. She looks too similar IMO.
Does she have something like a distinctive birth mark(s)? Freckles or a tattoo? Piercings, maybe? A different haircut (or colouring)?
I believe she's more 'dominant' and/or extravagant compared to Reya, isn't she? Especially if she's supposed to be a stripper or exotic-dancer if you will. I'd suggest either a more athletic build or more voluptious body type with a more 'mature' facial features. Higher cheekbones for instance.
Just brainstorming, and spitting out any idea or suggestions. :blahblah:

I should point out that Reya is Burnette with green eyes (no pupils), and Jackie is a Blonde with blue eyes. Jackie also has larger breasts.
I do see exactly what you are saying and I will definatly take it into consideration when I redraw the character.

I do have a few older pictures of Reya, Hamon, and Kevin. I might as well post them. (FYI, the Reya picture is based off an illustration by Gustave Dore...or was it Albrecht Durer? I don't remember)

Hamon

This is some pretty old stuff, but I realize that I really need help with the Kevin, he needs to have some more depth to him, any suggestions would be helpful.

I had a long weekend at work so I was not able to finish any more artwork. I took a bunch of pictures of Downtown Detroit a while ago for Reference. I tried to get people and cars in the shots to show scale. I'll give the name of the building and the style of architecture. I will add some more building reference later on.
Let's start with my personal favorite building, the Gaurdian (formerly the Union Trust) Building. It is of the American Vertical Style
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/Detroit013.jpg
This is its main entrance
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/Detroit024.jpg
This is what we call the Penobscott, another American Vertical building. It is the third tallest in Detroit, and for a short period after it was built in 1927 it was the tallest in the world
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/Detroit021.jpg
This is the old Bank of Detroit, it is of the Beaux Arts style
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/Detroit019.jpg
I'm not sure what this building is called, it is of the Romanesque Revival Style, it is so creepy and old that I think this would be a really good place for Kevin to take his victims, including Reya.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/IMGP1117.jpg
And finally, this is the Masonic Temple Theatre, I'm not sure what style of building it is, probably a mix of Romanesque Revival and Beaux Arts. But it does look really cool.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z318/hermanator888/Detroit%20Reference/IMGP1122.jpg
These building are to provide a frame of Reference for the world that Reya lives in. Keep in mind that the Detroit in the comic books is going to be very stylized. I plan to at least have the architecture be of an older nature, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the clothing and hair styles. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Great buildings :teeth:
You need to go back and do some serious anatomy work. You've got a few drawings that are moving in the right direction in the May 31st post. Are you using references for these character drawings? Take the time to find some solid human anatomy reference photos, like you're doing with those buildings.
Honestly, I'd leave your characters alone for a while and just concentrate on general anatomy studies. Find a good bunch of reference photos, or better yet a life drawing class, and do a whole lot of drawings. Even if you're looking to do a cartoony style, this will help you immensely. Just keep at it :)

Okay I took your advice and did some anatomy work, I'm not going to post that stuff because I don't feel like scanning all of it in. After that practice I did these two drawings of Jackie the stripper. One of the pictures is more exaggerated and stylized, the other is supposed to be more realistic, and is probably going to be the standard for the character into the future.
First the Stylized

Now the more realistic

If you see anything that can be improved with these particular drawings let me know

Here are some new pictures of my demone character, both of these pictures where done pretty quickly.
This is his new head, I've done away with his horns and I think this will be the new standard for it's face.

This is just another picture of its body.

I'm going to post some newer better stuff soon, I promise.

I really like the detail in whatever it is that is ripping off Reyas wings.
I also enjoy your pictures of Detroit, I've never seen the place but it looks nice, and that first picture looks awesome. And I also agree that Jackie needs a little more facial feature just to set her apart. Higher cheek bones if she's the more dominant would really work well, maybe you could add something like a small dimple inher chin, or even cheeks when she smiles? Just some ideas that may help.
Keep drawing, and writing, sounds like a cool story. Have you ever read the manga, Princess AI? It's by Courtney Love and has some resemblance in the plot. If you haven't, maybe it can give you ideas, or help to make sure it doesn't become another Princess AI.
Good job and good luck.

Is everybody in your story a naked girl :P
In all serious I like the demone guy, it's not really scar but creepy. I also really like the detail in the scene where her wings are being ripped off.

I added the pictures of Detroit to give some context to where this story is going to take place. I am working on Jackie's new look, but I've noticed that giving her higher cheek bones can make her look kind of old. I'm just going to have to do some more adjustments to her before I can really get it right.
I have heard of Princess AI, I think my little sister reads it. I'm not actually a big Manga fan, I am actually intentionally trying to avoid making Reya's story seem too much like a Manga because that type of artwork seems to have saturated the market (no offense to anyone who draws with that style, its just not my thing), anyways, thanks for pointing that out for me.
:confident Also, there is a reason that Reya and Jackie are naked so far: I'm attempting to give the story a neo-art deco look, and I have not yet decided what kind of clothing the main characters will be wearing.
I'm working on some more artwork for the world right now, hopefully it will be done soon.
Thanks for the help!

This is a new image of my Jackie character, and it will be the last image I am going to post on this thread. I am not very experience with posting stuff on forums and as you can tell I'm having some trouble with my links to photobucket right now. I am going to continue with this project in a new thread hopefully tonight. I'll repost a lot of the artwork from this thread onto the new one.
