It has been unfortunate that I have continued to be swamped with too much work. I hope this post will be the start of my renewed participation on this forum. All I can share at this point are some sketches from the book "How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way" that is nearing completion. This is why most of the designs are so tweaked and drawn in an obvious toy car proportion. Hope you enjoy. More info on the book as it nears publication date.

Thanks to those of you who have been posting. I always enjoy stopping by for some inspiration, even if I cannot find the time to do any new work of my own, the wheels are still turning for some new pieces in the near future. It does feel good to post something again...it has been far to long since my last contribution.

Here they are, most are small thumbnails, no particular order.

Here are three more sketches and a little traditional media sketch, minus the Photoshop spin blur on the wheels! The color piece here is the end result of a detailed traditional media step by step demo.

Here are a couple of Larry Wood designs I did overlays of before rendering them in Photoshop. You can see the last two images here are screen shots and part of a 20 page digital rendering step by step.

Shame on me to think that 'How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way' was geared towards kids. And all this time, I was eagerly awaiting your 'How to Draw Vehicles' book.

Looks like I'll have to pick up both. I really appreciate the broad range of stylings for all the sketches you've shown.

Thanks for posting these, I've been waiting for this for so long...I can't wait for the two books you are talking about. I hope they are as helpful as the perspective tuts on your website. They've helped my sketching alot.

Are those skewed views of the cars (the ones where the car looks like it's curved) normally done in car concept art? I don't know anything about what is expected in car concepts, and maybe those types of drawings are part of the normal design work-ups, but I kind of think they don't do the concept justice. Just my personal thoughts.

Extremely professional work, Scott. I adore the lineart, and the sketchy stuff is cool to see. Colors look fresh and crisp.
I'd love to see some futuristic trucks or something from you.

Really inspiring stuff, as always.

blackhand,
Thanks, the range of vehicles for my own book will be much larger I promise.

Alex Gering,
I wish that were true, then I could by a new wrist as I seem to be wearing this one out!

sparth,
Thanks, you know when I add in I like to do it with more than one piece at a time. Guess that's why it takes me so long between posts!

Deth Jester,
Thanks, you are to kind, still so much to improve

pleX, Loga4, martin,
Thanks.

jmascho,
My own books will really expand on the tutorials on my site. Glad you have found them helpful.

DragonGX,
LOL, thanks.

chao,
Your welcome, hope to have more soon.

davi,
Thanks, click away.

helix7,
Yeah, the ones that look like they are going, or bending around a corner are meant to be just dramatic sketches as the car might appear through a fish eye lens. They are not used much to convey the true form of the car, just used to get people excited about a rough direction. They are referred to as theme sketches. These are the ones where you push, somtimes to far, the allowable limits of perspective drawing. They usually are accompanied by sketches with more "correct" or less distorted perspective.

brasshorsekiller,
Good idea on the trucks, I'll try to do some for my book. I did design some for a quick consulting job once.

Android,
Thanks, on behalf of Design Studio Press I would be more than happy to donate a signed hard cover for the next Thunderdome winner! Just let me know where to send it and it is done.

It's too bad I missed this when it was first posted. These are great. You've heard that from everyone already though.

Are you still planning to add more tutorials to your site, and will some of these be included? I've been eagerly waiting.

Very professional. I really like how youve gone retro on most of your designs in this thread. I think the last onbe on your fisrt post is a corvette remix and it looks great.

Excelent work, looks like you had some fun doin' those!
I've been waitin' for your book, been checkin' at the book store

I think it's gonna be the text book for the new freshmen commmin' into college at my school, the ones taking rendering for ID.

One of my professors uses you as refrerence when teaching perspective

It's cool to see a person I learned some perspective from posting
keep it up!

Holy Crap.... *____*

You're freaking awesome...to tell you the truth, I would have gone crazy with the perspective lines and the drawing itself if I was to construct the same cars you're drawing.

My favorite is the 21st pic (3 comment, 5th pic). You're very good with the airbrushing...if it is airbrushing...
