Hey all...
I've been interested in the field of painted comic book covers. I've been struggling as a 'fine artist' for some time, trying to do the whole gallery thing. My painting and drawing skills are pretty competent, but I've always kind of been interested in doing work like that.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the field. What should my portfolio include? ex. already existing characters, certain formats, mediums...etc?

I particularly like the work of Phil Hale, Frazetta, JonFoster, Kent Williams to name a few... They get jobs that I would like, basically.

Any suggestions would be awesome...thanks guys

You can see my work here. Although, not fit for the field I would like to enter, maybe you could at least see my skill level.
