After posting in the sketch/WIP forum, I took people's advice and altered his coat, added a belt, and darkened his visor. Then, I gave his uniform some values.
I realize that his medals and uniform style don't match a specific rank. I didn't want to turn this into a drawn-out study on WW2 history. I just wanted to have a little fun and reffed a few pics, choosing the parts I liked most. So, no lectures on his mtulti-rank appearance, kay?
A personal dive into my uniform fetish using an original character of mine, Reinke "Rev" Krauser. Nazis did terrible things, but man they looked really good.

Err... If you want to get into trouble, go ahead and say Nazis looked great killing millions of people. If you don't, try to keep your opinions to yourself. It's really not much of a joking matter to lots of people.
I think the uniform could use some more shades, being just one shade makes it look really flat. Didn't the Nazis also have like 2-3 shades to accentuate the illustrations on their posters? I also think you should have the nazi symbol is the "real" colors. It looks weird like that, and the message is still the same.

Well. Even evil can people have aestethic taste. I dont know whats wrong about saying that.
Anyhoo, I think you could use some more shaders, and the red should be oker-ish. It's a bit to bright and clean, if you catch my drift. Try adding a paper texture to the whole image, and see if that can help with the poster-propagande feel.

Needs more propaganda-ness.

Am I the only one getting an effeminite vibe from his posture?
Also, you need to not hide the hands. You should work on what you are bad at, not hide it.

My eyes go immediately to the boots and not much else. They have the strongest value on the page and they are dominating everything else.
Either bring up the values on the uniform or knock back the boots.
Try to take a peek at a some graphic design/ propoganda books at a book store. You don't have to buy them, just take a look to get an idea of how this could be improved.
I attached an American Propoganda poster ala WWII.
I do like the line work that you've done on the uniform. Nice job.
On a personal note, I think the subject matter sucks, but art is subjective.

You have to keep in mind that the propaganda machine works on image. The cooler your uniform, the better your posters, the more people you will attract. Since Nazis had such a radical point of view, they had better have good design and propaganda. I don't see what's wrong with admiting it.
You can refer to the movie "Wag the Dog" to see what i'm talking about. Or anything politic by Noam Chumsky (sp?)
---------
As for the art, I find him stiff, his head a bit big and the draping of his uniform lacks confidence.

I'm sorry but I have to step in here. Careful how you approach the Nazi ordeal, there are some people on the boards of whom ancestry felt that of the fascist regime which will take that phrase seriously. I'm not going to flutter you about the swastika since I myself am an avid WW2 gamer and history buff, but there are some people who will find what you said offensive. I know you didn't mean it in that sense, but keep in mind that this is a very serious issue to some people. Get to know history a bit more before you step in and say "They looked cool doing it". Because theres nothing cool about brutally massacring millions of innocent people, and not just of Jewish descent, but many others including many of their Italian allies during 1943.
As for the propaganda poster, you need to work more on the perspective. Might even be safe to say you should start over completely. Take a look at many propaganda posters and see how they speak out:

Okay, few things I needta say:
1: Thanks for all the poster refs, guys! I wasn't making it to completely copy the style, but I did like how it reminded me of it. I don't plan to do anymore work on this, as it is a finished piece and I have already made a lot of changes based on previous suggestions. But in the future I will definitely use these posters for help.
2: I'd like the commenters to be adults about this. For one thing, this is an art thread; not a "Ohh I hate your subject matter, boo" thread. I said I thought they looked good because.. that's exactly what I think. Maternally, I am Jewish. My great grandmother escaped from Poland. On top of that I am gay. My girlfriend is black. We have every reason in the world to hate the Nazis. I don't think they were cool. I think they looked good. I specifically said that so that people wouldn't think I was all up for the Nazi party. I would appreciate it if people focused on the art, not their personal feelings about the subject. This is getting ridiculous. It's not a debate thread.
3: His head does indeed look big, now. It hadn't before I added the belt, to be honest. Oh well :\
4: If I tone down the boots I hafta tone down the visor, hair, and crop whip; and I'm done with the pic. But I will keep those details in mind when I draw him again.
5: I think I *will* fade out the red of the background. Good idea. I will also try to figure out textures. Never messed with those before.

Naaaah ...
they didint look cool to me.. they were full of themself! and that's why they lost the ww2... if they did ,you didnt quite succeed in rendering that coolness.. like some said, the head is too big ,the feet are off too... why the red color? maybe an all grey tone drawing would have served you better...

Yes they were quite haughty, weren't they? I tried to capture that. ANYONE who thinks they're that great is bound to fall.
When I first made it red in the back I had specifically lessened the opacity to make it less BAM IN YOUR FACE. I think I need to take it down a little more.
I forgot to reply to Justin:
Oh believe me, I give that lecture ta people all the time. And it is very true! Always draw more of what you have a hard time with. But I have absolutely no problem with hands. I really just wanted his arms in that positioning.

You know if you going to say ignorant things like the nazis looked good while killing millions of innocent people. Then you have damn well have the best artwork I have ever seen and even then I'll think you have some issues..
The head to to big the design of the uniform is ok but could be better. If anything this needs to be done over. Do not put cloths and details on characters if you have not addressed the basic rules. The right leg is shorter then the left and and both his legs are a bit to short.
There is nothing eye catching about this. Look some examples up and learn from them as best you can.

Excuse me. This is retarded. I said that I thought nazis looked good. They had good uniforms (in a wide array of styles) and I find that sexy so I drew my ORIGINAL character as a nazi. This person is not real. Do NOT come into my thread and degrade me as a person. Ever.
What the eff "basic rules" are you talking about? Pay attention. One leg appears slightly shorter because he is taking a small (if haughty) step.
Do not come coasting around people's threads to tell them what worthless junk their stuff is.
Elwell lol!! Oh man. That one is really weird, now that you mention it!

LOL! His eyelids are down 'cause he's looking down on the world. I suppose with the black hair that can lead to an oriental look? THAT would be funny xD an asian Nazi.

Crits:
Your proportions are off- the head is too big/hand small
your line work is monotonous and uneventful- no line variance
The clothing folds are unrealistic
The lighting on the boots doesnt match each other
Its flat- no color variance, nothing amazing happening here
The slanted pose and facial expression gives a feminine vibe
Your trying to show the swastika by moving the flag slightly to the left is throwing your composition off.
If you are trying to be historically accurate:
your costume is wrong-
The buttons are silver, embossed with an eagle
The cross on his chest is wrong, the designs for their crosses are different than that- research
The pants are supposed to be riding pants, wider at the top- wrong pants
He is holding his whip wrong
Unless you are trying to make a statement,The flag is wrong
This is a generals outfit- research it.
Lastly, I wouldnt consider this finished, but thats just IMO

My punctuation keys are not working very well. Forgive the lack of a few things.
-_- okay It should be required for people to read the post made with the artwork. No, it is not historically accurate. I soecifically said I know that the uniform is wrong; I used 4 refs and chose the elements I liked post. This is a purely visual picture, for myself. Not for accuracy. As I was the one who made it, I am aware that it is flat and simple. I wanted it that way. It is not a painting so much as it is a drawing with values and one color. As I said, for my own imagery. There is no definite light source (I didnt even give his clothing any shading. Light sources arent an issue.)
I am aware his head is now too small. I already said, once I gave him a belt and had it cinch, his head looked too small.
He is not on a horse. How can he HOLD something wrong when he isnt doing anything with it?
If someone makes a drawing, it doesnt mean they are parading it as a painting.
At least you stayed on topic. Thank you.
To everyone else: people arent reading the crap I say about the uniform or about his head, so I am having this thread locked; dont bother making any more attempts to tell me how batsh*t insane I am. Thanks guys; you have severely jacked my view of this site.
