Hey guys! This is my first try at a sculpture, tell me what you think and maybe some suggestions on what I can do next time I try and sculpt.

I used a clay called super sculpty, if anyone know what is a better sculpting material that I could use I would love to know.

It looks good. It sure isn't obvious this is your first sculpture. It turned out very well. Nice paint job and extras too (like the book and grass).

I don't see any problems except maybe to work on your anatomy a bit more. The "skin" side of the face could improve around the mouth and eyes. For the edge of the mouth, the upper lip should overlap the lower a bit. For the eyes, more lines will give the look of upper and lower eye lids. I think human faces are the hardest to do so you did a really good job for your first try.

Super Sculpey is nice to work with but I find it too soft for small detail work and the light color makes details hard to see while I'm sculpting. Sculpey Firm costs a bit more but it's not as soft, has a smoother texture and the gray color shows details better. It's a joy to work with.

It really came together once you painted it. All the details are very nice. Awesome job for a first time :)

looks great!~ i love the folds of his cloak.
I'm working on an angel right now in the same stuff... first sculpt as well... finding out first hand about the issues with fine detail... i think I'll have to buy myself some of that firm stuff :P

I think it's bad taste ! Something a tourist buys in a shop near an eerie castle (now comercialized).
