Color LAYER...how it works????help!

I want to color a B&W image using a layer in "color" mode,but the colors I put appear too bright!!!I mean,if I pick dark red,the color when I paint is a very bright red!!!!I don´t know if you understand me,sorry about my english!:$

the color layer will only allow u to apply the color and it's saturation.
U establish the value in ur black and white image afterall.

Do not expect the color layer to be one of ur final steps i mostly use it to establish basic color and feel. if u need a darker red just open a new layer pick the color u like change it as u like an paint with it.

use multiply rather than color. you can control the value of the color then.

do you only have to use color mode... why don't you experiment with other modes... cos color mode is doing exactly what it is supposed to do which you are getting...

Your red appears really bright beacause you painted it on really bright value (which is on B&W layer).
