I like it, but the axe... it looks almost anything except an axe.

yeah didnt plan this one out...may turn the axe into a hammer. Was a rough sketch that I figured would stretch my coloring wings. Thanks for the reply

I like his shield. It reminds me of the shield an old Advanced dungeons & Dragons figure I used to have. The "Warduke" - Evil Fighter. He had a vicious black horse that shot fire from its' arse as well

That's TOTALLY Warkude's shield! Maybe mixed with Castle Grayskull. heh. Awesome. That's an axe? I though it was bristles of some sort at first. Man, nice sketch, though. Maybe I should start sketching more at work.

I do like the coloration. I'm a fan of muted colors. Nice blue to yellow in back, and nice use of the intense purple around his helmet-horns -- just a touch.

the drawing works. i would try using greater contrast, pick a point of light and really etch out the form with deep shadows - this guy is very volumetric, play that up. i would drop the bottom of the composition into black to give it weight and keep him from floating. axe could be real dark with an extremely bright glint of light, maybe shining through fresh blood...?
