I have been working on loomis head drawing book for a little while, a good few months, but seem to have great difficulty with the ball and falttened sides, recently i purchased hogarths head drawing book.

Atm I am finding the two egg ball masses for angle view lot easier, but worry about which one i should stick with in the long run.

Two questions really, even though it is perhaps down to personal preference?

1. When you are drawing from reference, does the two egg masses work better than the ball with flattened sides.

2. if you know of these two, which two do you prefer from the ball with flatted planes at the sides and the two egg masses?

Use which ever one you feel most comfortable with, or create your own.

These construction methods were created as tools to construct anatomy and I don't find it necessary to use them when drawing from reference. Just seems like extra work for me.

As HunterKiller said, use whatever works. Be careful with Hogarth's head book, though, some of his proportions are a little wacky.
