After seeing a few screenshots of peoples desk tops i've noticed how unorganized they are.
Here are a few tips that have learned. (i'm using xp)
Do you have a short cut to a common used folder on your desktop? try clicking the folder and draging it to the top, right, or left side of your screen then releasing. It will cause a new taskbar. Right click on a blank spot in the task bar and turn on auto hide and go to VIEW then change to small icons.
This will give you instant access to the folder whenever needed. I use it for my mp3 drive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Have a series of game icons scattered around? make a new folder and drag drop all the shortcutsr in. If you are like me you just freezed up 8 spaces.
Also if the folder button is too tacky for you right click the folder and go to properties, then customize, then change icon. There will be a list of standard icons ot pick from. personally i like the orange one with the arrow point up. clean and easy to spot on a black desktop.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Is your system tray becoming too packed? Make sure you have the "hide inactive icons" options on. If you don't:
Go to properties and put a check mark at the very bottom option.
Then you can go to customize in the same section and set whatever icons you want to ALWAYS hide, i have 10 icons(so far) in my tray, only 4 show.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
If i can think of something else i'll let yah'll know. Feel free to enter suggestions too.
