hi alex ,
glad you could start a sketchbook here.
i´m really liking your FIRST ( wow) attempt to photoshop.
just do more of that.
reagarding your drawings from mind. do more nudedrawings ! extremley much more , if you can´t go out use porn refs or whatever. it´s the 1st way to get better with figures . the second one is to put out some anatomy book and practice till your thumbs will give you a break , becuase of beeing broken of too much pressure holding the pencil :D.
yo keep it updated daily and show us more man!

hey man, thanks for the kind words! i hope you dont mind, but i did paintovers of your studies to try and help you. the one highlighted in red is the main crit, usually with a fairly built body, there is a "web" of sorts underneath (the shoulder muscle) and it looked slightly odd without it. it's not all 100% but just for ideas.
if you want me to take the image down, just say.

Nice, keep em coming!
It reminds me of doing more life-studies myself.:^^:
Maybe one thing for learning anatomy. In my opinion it woud be far more efficient, if you always stay focused on one part of the body for some time.
Now you have a lot of variation in your studies, but if you emphasize your studies for example on the head or heands, you´ll recognize some mistakes mor easily.
keep going !

Ok guys, I went to the Comic Con on saturday, where I got some autographs of David Lloyd and MARKO DJURDJEVIC. It was pretty inspiring and so I was trying Heads the whole left weekend. These are my todays results, I hope you like them... The first is inspired by Marko's "nobody waits for Marko" drawing...

Good start! You seem to have a handle on the digital stuff. Your heads are pretty solid, too. You're already doing anatomy studies, which is great -- keep on it! That's going to be the most important thing for you right now. Pay more attention to proportion -- if you don't know correct proportions, learn them. Don't worry about the styley bits right now -- just get the fundamentals down. Maybe get some gesture drawing in, if you're comfortable. Go out and draw people -- try to capture the essence of their poses. Your figures are generally pretty stiff. Almost all of them have at least one arm flat at their side, more like they're pressing it against their hip than just hanging it there. I hope I haven't been too harsh. You do have talent -- just keep going forward. :)

Keep working on that anatomy. I would also suggest doing more drawing from life. It will help tremendously when you're trying to make stuff up out of your head. You're off to a good start though. Keep at it. Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook.

hey! good start here! keep on drawing from references-they're your best friend. it really helps you build up a mental library of how things look. also, really try to boil things down to the simplest of shapes (circles, rectangles, etc.) before you add detail. then you can see where your proportions are off before you get too far along. :) keep at it!

Hey, thanks for writing in my SB-thread, much appreciated!.
I Like the colors of that last Selfpotrait alot, but i think you messed the proportion up a bit, and didnt paint some shapes, like in the area of the eyes, it should be more detailed for example. Anyways looks good.
For the landscape:, actually the landscape itself looks kinda cool i think :), but the tones are so weird, i mean, i cant understand your placement of dark tones in most areas. Maybe starting with a tone-value study and a clear light source could solve this problem.

hey, thought i'd give my 2cents, hope you don't mind =)
i've strugled and i'm still struggling with the heads and i can see in your drawing some of the same things i was doing, and sometmes still do. Uhm...what i mean is that some of your heads look out of proportions, even if the features are places well in some drawings, especially from the side the head looks too large or anyway out of proportions. (don't know if it was on purpose but it doesn't give me the right feeling anyway), on others you're doing well. I hink that you know the proportions, but sometimes draw without concentraing too muchmaybe...that was my problem atleast...and one thing that helped me was to draw me a template of the head proportions several times, even in 3/4 view so that i new ho stuff works, and had an eye for what looks right and hat looks wrong (real life helps a lot in this also). Then i just put that away cause my heads were all looking the same xD and start imagining, try to see the head before drawing it, for me...when you see it in you mind and then just draw what you see, you ca't be wrong...and it also helps to concentrate on what you're doing...and if i don't have a clue on what i wanna draw, i sart with a bunch of random lines and try to see through them, and i keep adding till i have a starting point that lets me see that faces, so that i can put it down...
well it may sound like delirations...but it is helping me a lot seeing it this way..so i though i'd share this, hope it can be usefull...
well cheers, and keep up the good work!
oh. good job with te self portrait, but in my opinion, you should just go on and finish, it, spend more time on it and it will look great. You've blocked the basic shapes, now refine it, and it will surely look like you =)

Good to see many posts and practice. Pretty much what everyone said, just keep posting. Drawing from life is invaluable. I would give super heroes and muscle men a break a bit and just learn how things work in the body. Which I think you started.
The first spidey had a nice flow to him :) The vector stuff was nice too ;)

Keep up the good work! If you would to read or look at a book to help with anatomy, get "Dynamic Figure Drawing" by Burnes Hogarth. This book helped me alot and after you read it you will see how many people here used that book as a reference and study guide! And 1 more thing, it doesn't hurt to copr or re-create other pieces of art as you try to understand the techniques that thye use, it is only bad if you try to Plagerize the work. So let the mind continue to dream, let the heart hang on to the passion, and let the hands always create art!

Thanks for stopping by my SB and I appreciate that compliments on the brushed out tanks. I see you got schmorgusboard of stuff up too. Takin to the comic side of things no doubt. It's lookin good and only gets better with the never ending anatomy studies and digital approaches. I don't know if you like drawing chicks in the comic world as well but if you do I'd like to recommend the "Fathom" comics by Top Cow's Michael Turner, those are a forced to be reckoned with for real. Well thanks again and keep making progress, it never stops. Much love,

First off I see a lot of improvements just from page one to page two. Your self-portraits look on point, the water color character was very creative and the super Mario image is bugged out... I'm a student of art as well so I cant really give to many harsh critiques because I have a lot to learn myself, so all I would say is keep up the anatomy studies...
Keep the pencil to the paper!!
