Wow nice sketches, I like the Luzifer pic most.
Crits?
Maybe a little... but only a little and since this are sketches Im even not sure if this si a point to crit but ..oh well:
at the luzifer pic, his "skirt" could be painted more smooth, not so hard lines IMO, but as I said...only a little crit :)
keep up the good work

Troll Skelking: ya... well, not mine. all (but the troll) are character sketches for a comic book im illustrating.
MilesNoctis: Thanks! Ya, they're all pretty sketchy... when i clean them up and finish them more... ill post. maybe then it'll be easier to crit.
Lirce: Man, you nailed me... somewhere along the road of my life... i noticed that looking down and staring forward gives off a really sinister look (unless you're me)... I've been trying to draw outside of my comfort zones lately... but when i relax, and my pen goes flaccid... the Danzig look is usually the result.
thanks for the kind words guys! starting a sketch book here is like trying to speak up in that mousey little geek voice in front of all the cool kids.
more soon if things go as planned
(Danzig look officially banned from this sketchbook until further notice)

Hey man, very nice SB! There is no way you won't get into a major art college. I know these are just sketches but I see mad potential here. Nice linework and concepts. I'm still learning painter and experimenting with color, but you are among the many here that give me inspiration. Take care. :rendered:

artmessiah: Thank you so much, man! That means a hell of a lot... especially since i really admire your sketches! :)
ya, I've been working mostly in painter the last few months... and have really kinda put my traditional stuff on the back burner... which i need to pick back up... considering everything i read about ringling and what they want to see in your portfolio seems to target on traditionally done life drawings/landscapes/still lifes/etc.

Yeah the Ringling entry portfolio should focus on traditional stuff, but just looking your digital work, I'm sure busting out a few figure drawing or still life pieces shouldn't be too hard for you. I would jump on working on the ole portfolio early because time SPEEDS by before it's due. And me being the biggest procrastinator of all time, I had to really jump through hoops to get things done. I repeat what I said earlier though, I don't think you'll have any problems with getting in just as long as your highschool grades were decent (your portfolio will already rock). If you're like me who'z highschool grades sucked (I wish I could go back in time and slap myself), go to a local college and take a couple courses in art to erase your highschool GPA. Take care and keep this thing updated as best you can.

Hey, sorry to be visiting so long after your nice comments in my SB.
i really like your characters, good acting, good designs. I particularly like Lucifer, great gaze, great emotive hands. I also really like the colors and sense of light and reflection in your city-scape. Ghoul daddy...disturbs me. If looking at him I was supposed to feel good about the direction the country is going in...sorry. With the Bela Lugosi you really captured his glare and I love the textures of your strokes, "feels" like an old horror black and white. Even without captions, you drew me into the story with the panel you posted, you make me wanna find out what's going on.
Please keep posting. I'll be back.

You definetely , went a diff. direction for avenging ice princess. Though it seems like a nightmare to me! Though the clouds are defined and gove the derpeseed haunted feel i think you were going for, the rest of teh background is kind of dull , and white, not really the best , which is unfortunate for such an interesting, and haunting take on the topic.

I just wanted to say that I like your comic characters very much and I look forward to the final result! (Like your concept/doodle things too and I've seen your CHOWs and they are great.)
Not much constructive criticsm here (since I really can't judge these things fairly)

here's some suggetion that may or may not work but u can give it a try for blood obsessed chicks :P lol. i think u should emphasize the bloody a lil more in ur photoshop pics.

although really nice stuff u got here :)

dcproductions25: Thanks man! I've been thinking about doing another one. We'll see how that goes.
gkrit: Thanks for the crits. The images are done in painter (not photoshop)... and i most certainly need to work on my backgrounds. As for the blood... I'm not one to shy away from gore... but in these... i was really trying to go for a subtle bloody look... especially on the first one. you know, try and give the impression that she's been eating... but it was some hours ago.
I got a new scanner last night... so hopefully I'll be posting more traditional images in the future.
These six are probably going to be included in my Ringling art portfolio... so crits and suggestions are very welcomed.
also... a note on the model on the stool. It wasn't a live model. I sketched it from a Virtual Pose included in one of my ImagineFX issues. you're able to spin her 360 degrees (which is awesome), but I'm curious if I should excluded it. I'm not sure if it would be considered drawing from an image or not. Any thoughts?

This last batch is awesome man, excellent subject matter and executed beautifully. I see what you mean about the lady on the stool; she's not as lively as the other figures in this post (which I assume are all from life?). If you've got more than enough pieces for your portfolio and she is not as strong as the rest, then do not include her. Otherwise, I don't see the problem with including it. What else are you thinking of including?
I like the graphite one with the foot and hand, but I can't tell what is cloth and what is skin. I'd see if it's possible to clarify that.
