My new one =). I made one few months ago, when I first got my Wacom, but i stopped but now I'm doing a new one. No promises to keep it up-to-date daily, some days I just never have the mind-set to do it. Hope this is common among Artists haha.
Any tips or critique, let me know. =)

fun sketches, you seem to have a nice hand for doing balanced poses. Watch out with too heavy blacks on female faces because it tends to make them look 80. I'm talking about those lines that run from the nostrils to the cornerof the mouth.

Hi there! The 4th, 5th, and 7th of your first post are the most striking of all your sketches so far. Try to refine your lines, and add some midtones to add balance to that striking contrast in your sketches. Good stuff so far!

Ha thanks for posting! It took me about 10-15 minutes on the train. lol i do a lot of drawing on the train. This is Him http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:BRNi_u6M15Fd8M:http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/LYNCH/untitled.JPG He was in the great escape, Magnificent 7. Only i drew him in his older years after the growth of facial hair. hah.
I like the sketches, do you do them on paper first or all digitally? thanks again, M

M -Thanks man. Ahh yeah, I know him now haha, Nice, hot work for 15mins. I should doodle on the train but I rarely venture far enough to have the time to get my sketchbook out, plus the people here will probably call me a pervert and give me a good slappin haha, and yeah it's all digitally.
Evx/Amer - Haha, well I think that's some good solid pointers for me to focus on. Thanks guys.

Heh Steve McQueen wasn't on the train you know... but yeah draw whenever i can basically. I got comisson from someone at college, I'm on a media course so lots of poeple are making films and stuff. It's easy to find someone who needs ideas. Thanks I'l see what i can do with the pic of my girlfriend, that last one of yours cool but i think the closer arm is too big and his waist too thin. also, blood is dripping at an angle :P lol but I like the line of his posture, like he's leaning back slightly, thats cool. Hey dude, the Pentel brush pen is basicall a really angled synthetic brush on the end of a cartridge pen. liiiike this! http://www.horhaus.com/weblogs/archives/v3/pentel_brush_pen.gif
kind of hard to imagine what its like to use by looking at it, but when I've given it to people to try out they all go "Oooooh" lol. I think they're designed for japanese calligraphy..? hmm I like the idea of a blue pencil but what's the difference to using a crayon?
Car is good, i like the sketchy lines but might benefit from a little more detail on the back wheel.
I'l post the big piece a bit later on tonight. :)

hey again, Thanks for the crit, i'm sorting out the class picture (you were right). It took me about an hour to do the pencils, then another two to ink and colour it i think. Kind of loose track of time lol. I used my pentel and then sepia ink and a brush to finish it. Thing is, they're all real people most of which I've never met so all i had was a crappy thumbnail of their face to work from, so it's no surprise some of them aren't happy. Some People!! hah anyway, i like the pic of ur friend, but don't feel you have to go round everything in black lines. Leave some edges white, or use thin or broken lines, like the right of her face where it appears the light source comes from could benefit from ditching the thick black line. On the other hand it seems to add to your style so take or leave that one!
thanks again

You draw nudie ladies very well ;). Your shading would look nicer if it were smoother, but maybe the choppy look was what you were going for.

Hey taiylz. Im really liking your consistent sketch posting. If I could maybe try to lend some helpful advice, I would say to focus more on making good line sketches before going into tone. Make every line count, and stay away from the "hairy line." Keep on sketching.

Thanks for the comments guys, wish I could show ye's all my work but I have no scanner =(. Somedays I can't draw for shit on my wacom but If I pic up a pencil/biro, I'm doing some good stuff.
I know what ye mean about the black lines M. I do like the black outline look, but it's more like a habit now haha, and as for the scratchy shading, that's pretty much 'cause I dunno another way to shade yet haha.
=). Lookin' forward to the renewed Class picture M.

You mentioned that you were interested in freelancing. My only advice is get a personal portfolio and work on what you want in it. Solid pieces. Then go to freewebs.com and get a free website going, open a file on myspace, facebook, ect, be involved in many online art forums, but more importantly take jobs even ones that don't pay well or at all. They will teach you first hand on how to approach working for individuals. Main thing is be patient. Know that if you work hard and advertise yourself in many areas jobs will find you.

You probably will hate this, but i suggest you stop doodling with a tablet and start using pencils more often. I think its important to study the importance of value when working with pencils. Plus your skills will carry over when your using the wacom. There are just so many discoveries you can uncover when doing this.

I like your stuff.. its very interesting. I have to say though the way you draw hair is kidna weird... its like... just a mass on top of their head. I would also work on clothing folds a little. Overall though this stuff is very cool and different!

DRD - haha, a biro is a ballpoint pen. We call them Biro's here in the UK, or where I live they do. I should stop saying Biro on here.
Shiro - Thanks man. Yeah i know my hair and creases need work (hair mostly), they used to be way worse so i'm not so worried. I understand creases, it's just getting them in the right places, but hair I find hard to make it look like hair. Either looks like plastic or straw.

Good work dude. I'd recommend trying to get loose. Set your brushes to opacity by pen pressure.. use a biger brush and try to get value with weight changes. When you colour get a fat brush and try to get things in with fast deliberate strokes..
Keep it up dude!
