I need help in colors scheme...

I just wondering how do I use color schemes in painting a realistic things.. or what is a color scheme and theory? thank you!!! and by the way where can I download a free color scheme tool?

I've always found looking at birds a great way to find a colour scheme, as long as there isn't a huge difference in colour (like the red, yellow, blue and green on a lorikeet). Birds like blue jays and peregrine falcons always make a nice colour scheme... bugs can also work well.

Can't tell you much about colour theory though! Sorry =P
