There are several areas you could work with. proportions and colours being the most important ones.
I can't tell if you had a line drawing under when you began working, but most of the proportions are a bit off. Bridgman has done several really good book on human anatomy, and they are a great help. If you can't afford them, take a look at androids spods. they are also very educative, even if some of them are very complex.
Your colours give a nice 3D feel to the head, I think it would be esier to work in black and white at first. I just recently began working in BW and it is much esier to see problems and solutions while working.
