Qanik is the spirit of ice and cold; He lives in the desertic land of Nunavut, wandering all day long. Few are the people who can tell they saw him, and fewer are the ones who weren't lying. A whole life wouldn't be enough to find him. But you can ever try. Who knows...

My effort sucked this time!:^^:
Voted slothyboy. Speaks for itself really, great colors especially. Some background elements are whats bringin it down, the structures seem a tad flat and whatnot. But the main thing, the elemental monster is top notch, good work my man!:)
I really like myalias' one too, great potential there. I want to see it finnished!

Dearest teenorz
I have stopped by in a while. I am amazed at the changes growth and improvement in those of you who have been doing these challenges for a while.
Keng
The line work is elegant, the actual creature is a little hard to discern, but my eyes really enjoy swirling around in the image. Nice composition althoguh you might want to be care full of going directly into the corners or abandoning space by blocking off corners (ie lower right the blue rectangle of the negative space)
Myalias
great swirling massive creature. Not entirely positive which element. If wind I might suggest you lean it more towards blue and grey.
Historically the elements are Earth , Air Fire and water, if this is and earth element it would be more Earthy if it had some warmth to the colour. As earth and fire are the warm/hot elements. Dunno how close to medieval science you all were intending though. The composition is excellent and very lively.
Plate
Very rock like. You have developed the forms of this creature beautifully. The composition is a little centered and static for something that appears to be moving rapidly through the picture plane
Asoir
Been looking at german expressionist paintings? Munch in particular. Nice style. Which element? Looks a bit like a sand worm from dune. Which I guess could be considered an elemental monster. You might want to rethink the straight diagonal composition as it tends to lead the viewers eye directly of the page and away from your drawing.
Apts
Very eerie. The creatures are very mystical almost iconographic, this is more environmental than monstor. But this piece has a really nice still feeling to it the muted desaturarted color works well. The composition holds up well with enough variation from centered to keep it interesting. I am somewhat bothered by the symetrical blob of bush in the corner and the perspective of the boat. It is more of a top view and should be more of a side view. and Behemouth means LARGE....
Amer-nazri--- no image
Bestow --- messy (don’t worry that’s what every body says about me too). If you are going for a childs coloring book type style , its at odds with the shading, this would be much more effective with some value structure. Atm if you drop this image into greyscale (desaturate all the way, ) you’ll see that its all the same value and very very saturated colors. Messy is ok but it needs a strong value structure and composition to hold it together
Max
Lovely creepy “wicker man quality” making the marks and stroke be textures that make sense with your subject.. way to go. You might want to experiment with the values of the Background of your piece
The eyes/mouth and the sky are so similar in tone that they read as holes all the way through your figure. And the white of the sky is so bright that it pops forward and reads as a shape. The Backround cliffs cut through the figure in unmatched places leads to an insecurity as to where your ground plane is.
Orafice.. beautifully done. I had to look twice. (one question… very human teeth on the sharklike creature..intentional? makes him look much more benign)
Evil Sloth
Woot! I’ll nit pick if you like… but not much point…
Chaichan
Nice- cloud pictures. I sometimes see them like that. 2 small comments it seems very anchored in position, and the purple spots between the legs are visually popping a bit. Clouds really do have structure. Did you use ref? a very evocative image. Well done
Narmo
I know this creature is supposed to be nearly invisible. But I would like it to have a little more in the way of form. Atm its nearly a flat cutout. Maybe even cast a bit of a faint shadow. The dog sled makes this piece in balance with the distant mountains. Nice touch.
OmertA
This guy seems to be mostly about the teeth,, nice fangz. Again you migh want to take a look at your value composition. If you put this image into greyscale, the lights and darks don’t seem to have any organizational sense… and they should. The white sky part is the same white and the highlites on the creature. But the highlits are in front and the light is behind. It doesn’t make sense, and I am having a hard time decyphering the S shaped form just to the right of center… where is it in space? What is it? The edges of theis creature could be sharpened and a little less blurry atmosphere would make this a solid piece
Bluefruitbowl
A very classical image. You look like you rushed the background. Be carefull with scrubby un intention hatching. You should always be mind full that your shading marks are describing something with their direction and weight. The flowing line work in this piece has promise of really nice work.
Sung-jae Kim
I looks like you are just beginning to work with painter?
You might want to calibrate your monitor. Your fire is pink. And your grey brown is very muddy. You’ve made some interesting compositional choices which aren’t entirely working for you. You might want to try cropping out the cliffs oon the right as they are totally messing with the perspective of the space. This could be rendered tighter in to a very interesting image.
Submitted with the greatest respect for your hard work and progress

Hi, cheers for the crit chaos, I was already aware that the perspective of the boat was of and yeah I know it's kinda environment based but I've been trying to improve my environments for so long now that I sort of just naturally draw environments rather than characters, I should probably do some more work on drawing characters and yeah I know the bush is a bit weak but I always struggle with vegetation, believe it or not this is a considerable improvement on my previous attempts
Anyway my vote went to amer - nazri , as I have already seen the pic in the actual thread but it will be hard for you to get more votes without your picture actually posted here.

My review!
Keng: Very sweet, i think it had the potential to be the best if you had had the time to finish it. Great work.
Myalias: Good starting composition and layout, color scheme needs a little more, but looks like it could end up an excellent product, although i'm not sure what this elemental is manifested from?!?
Plate: Good concept, good rendering, you could have done soooooo much more with lighting to make it interesting however, but you probably ran out of time :needle:
Asoir: Clearly incomplete, traditional media? Well anyways looks like a caterpillar to me...
Apts: Nice picture, nice concept, moonlight bugs? Pretty cool, little bland.
-Max-: Good concept, maybe if it was sharper and backed off from its face a bit more i'd like it, but i want to see the rest of the character too badly.. :dad:
Orifice:Love the concept, and the pose is okay, wish you would have finished this! Great work on the creature though.
Evil_sloth: Well, people seem to like your stuff, but this picture was very clumsily made compared to some of your other stuff, the sword cutting off the heads was CLEARLY an afterthought as its a very strange way to swing something, and i detest the feeling of mixed media/photos that your image brings, frankly the creature on a grey background would've got me to vote for it.
Chaichan: Vivid, clear, monster like, and profound, something that every other picture here lacked. Great job, you have my vote, :teeth:
Narmo: This would've been great if you had followed horse anatomy or something close, and brought some shading in so theres enough contrast to decipher legs, or something. I like it.
OmertA: Great plan for a picture, i think it would've turned out really good if you gave the cave a more realistic hollow feeling, and had the creature blend in, nice.
Bluefruitbowl:Great concept!!! I would've liked to have seen a finished version of this, great work.
Sung-jae Kim: I like the colors alot, very similar approach to how i paint (seriously) but i need a more organic appearance to really like it. But of course its original since people have been drawing guys made out of rock since the stone age.
DAMN YOU PLATE!!!! DID YOU MESS UP AMER-NAZI's Image LINK? That was gonna be my original vote!!!!!
CURSES!

Fuck I meant to click Chaichan. Owell +1 to you bud.
Thanks for those who gave all the crits <3.
Chaos yeah I got that image torn to shreds on irc, he he.
Bestow hey no worries mate, sorry my pic made you feel sick. Yeah I didn't do nearly enough rendering over the top of the matte to make it look right.
Thats on account of my lazyness. Anyway next one is going to be pure brush work and no textures or anything.
Thanks for the votes dudes.

Yeah right , everyone says the same thing when they 'accidentally ' vote for their own entry , Sloth ;)
Just kidding mate, strong entries everyone, especially sloth and myalias.
I voted for myalias because of the lack of refinement in sloths which is very patchy and look like a photo mess somehow. I like it though =)

My image is an X? aaaaaa...Actually I meant that, its a symbolism of the elemental monster which the X emanates towards the viewer in its most purest sense, if you get what I mean.
Vote goes to Chaichan, dude's got skill and vision.
edit: Its back! yesss...

Amer-nazi would have totally taken this vote.. It's a conspiracy! D; And for sloth's, I didn't even notice the head-slice until people mentioned it.. But honestly I don't think a humanoid giant elemental holding two giant unrealistic swords like a damn ninja is the best conceptual design here. :S

Bear with me guys, I've been out of town for a few days. Amer-nazri, I'm really sorry about the broken image link - I linked it directly from your blog and worked when I made the thread, the URL must have changed at some point. I re-uploaded the image, I'm sorry it's too late for the poll though.
chaosrocks, thanks for taking time to crit all the entries, much appreciated
