Gearbox is seeking out talented Conceptual Artists for an on-site position for our next-generation Aliens title. Come and be a part of history in a continuation of the Aliens franchise originally created by Ridley Scott and James Cameron.
Not only will you have the opportunity to redefine established design, but play an intregal role in creating new worlds, characters, and other assets to match Ridley’s and Cameron's original vision that made the first two movies so amazing. You’ll work along with Syd Mead and Ron Cobb – the original conceptual artists responsible for the impressive sets, props, and vehicles such as the APC, Sulaco and the LV-426 colony. In addition Craig Mullins will also be joining us to help bring a fresh perspective towards detailing the epic and creative vision of this exciting new project.
We would prefer having a full-time position filled, contract is acceptable but relocating to our offices here in Texas would be required.
Requirements:
Show examples of quality, high resolution concept artwork in digital format
Have excellent fundamental illustration skills such as composition, perspective and color theory.
Able to create accurate, detailed, and compelling images based on written descriptions
Have excellent anatomy skills, with the ability to create realistic characters in a variety of styles
Have excellent environmental design skills, with the ability to create environments in a variety of styles
Design characters, props, vehicles, and environmental pieces in a sci-fi type setting
Desired Skills:
Strong industrial design skills
Strong storyboarding and staging skills
Passion for making detailed art for a futuristic sci-fi setting
Professional or published concept work is a plus
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Art Director to develop conceptual art that defines the look and art style of the game. You will help define the following:
Environment development
Character development
Game idea conceptualization/visual prototyping
UI concepts
Matte paintings
Storyboards
And much more!
