So a friend asked me to draw a picture with blue and orange mushrooms. I don't think she really had this in mind, but I'm an illustrator, so I had to try to make it interesting. Anyway, the idea is that this creature lures in little furry bunny animals by covering itself with the blue and orange mushrooms that the bunnies like to eat. Kinda morbid, I guess, but funny (in my opinion). ANY thoughts, suggestions, or crits are encouraged. Thanks in advance everyone.

My first thought was that it would be like the insect things that make themselves look like men in trench coats, from the movie. But yeah, it's pretty cool. Maybe you should make it with a bit more crooked of a face, and have some of the moss-lookin' stuff hanging over its mouth, to make it look a bit more grim/sinister/evilness. Good job though; I had a nightmare about something like that once.

Awesome :teeth:

Not much to offer in the crit department... i mean, it's a creepy mossy thing garlanded with pretty mushrooms that controls the rabbit population ;) what's not to like?

nice colors there, but like what manly said, maybe u can make him a bit more evil looking. exaggerate it's features to make it more convincing.

Hehe. Thanks. It actually was more sinister looking before (in the eyes mostly), but for some reason, I changed it. I think I wanted to make it seem less like an evil creature and more like just a creature. But I think the atmosphere is such that it needs to be more evil looking, so thanks for bringing that to my attention.

More progress. Decided on making the blue mushrooms glowing mushrooms and have the rabbit sort of glow as a result of it.

This is great, but with the glowing stuff, the evilness kinda gets lost as the oranges can't compete with the blues. Maybe tone down the glow a li'l and add some yellow/bright tones in the oranges.

I also think you could do more with the environment around them, maybe some bones of another bunny, or a hanging rabbitstail or foot, dead birds, rotting leaves, broken branches, a fleeing creature in a corner.... Just push them both a li'l more to the right compositionwise, cos the bunny is getting cut off uncomfortably in that corner. So giving it a li'l more story might help a li'l with bringing the nature of the creature forward, adding some 'grandness'.

I guess i like the first pic a li'l better, had less blacks and the composition read better. And i kinda like white bunnies. The second just seems a tad cramped and i don't really like how dark the orange mushrooms on the foreground got.

Keep it up, cos this really is awesome.

Cookiedough's right.. some bunny bones scattered around would reinforce the evilness, and yes, the blues kind of take over now.. bring back the oranges :teeth:

Brought back some of the orange in some of the mushrooms, added some more canvas to the left for composition, and added hints of blue bunny skeleton.

Looking and reading a lot better. Keep working, can't wait for the final result!

Your friend will love it, I'm sure. It's a cool idea, maybe some more fuzzy looking woodland creatures would add to the fun?

I think I'm about ready to call it quits on this one. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. Any final suggestions, comments, or crits?

this is very much awesome...

hmm i know you've finished it but maybe if the mouth was a bit more... big? I figure the mushrooms are leading the rabbit to the mouth but its too small for a rabbit to enter into without fear...

just a thought...

It looks great, and it looks like he's just about to snap up the little fuzzy thing.
