HI there. love this sketchbook forum. i've seen plenty of good critiques on here, so i figured i might as well toss some stuff on here myself. I've recently started taking observational; drawing classes and those seem to have helped. Well tell me what you think

Over the last year i was sucked into playing D&D with some friends. Never realized how much fun it was. I really want this gun in the game, but try explaining that to the DM.

i enjoyed the idea of this picture, with the leader of the bunch being hoisted up by his friends to speak to the fair maiden. i know this is a really rough image, but i am working on a refined version.

I'm not quite sure who this is or how she ended up in this situation, but i hope she has a parachute hidden under that sweater.

these are still really rough, but I am trying to create a creature from a description that a friend gave me. it is supposed to have the head of a badger, the neck breast and tail of a lion, and the hindquarters of a caribou. It is a herbivore with teeth that almost appear to be a bony ridge, with tightly packed teath, and a mouth that seems to go from ear to ear. It is also a seldom seen creature, not because of overhunting, but because of very complicated mating rituals. Thats all he gave me. The head has been my main concern right at the moment. trying to preserve a badger-like look with the other specifics has been a challenge. instead of the tightly packed teeth, ive decided to try the bone ridge idea. the bone ridge gets larger as it grows older. the chewing over time keeps the the bone ridge flattened, similar to the way a beaver keeps its teeth from growing too long with constant gnawing. I put the head on a body, but its nowhere near what i want.

aight. its been a few weeks since ive posted. in that span of time, i've been on a plane for the first time, been to LA for the first time, been to my first star wars celebration, and a number of other firsts. it was great meeting up with some of the people from dark horse comics, they are a great bunch, especially jaan duursma. she is my hero. so cool and a kick ass artist. shes an inspiration. anyhoo, i had my sketchbook with me at the airport and during the convention. plenty of people to sample. heres a few pages.
