Hey everyone. Been working on a creature concept for a sort of futuristic minotaur thing. Originally, it was a soldier concept where the armor was meant to resemble something like a minotaur, but then I decided to take it to a slightly more creature design. Anyway, any comments, critiques, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Look pretty coool so far.....definately alot of red/yellow going on in there...
Maybe make the BG grey bluer, or use some/more blue in the shadows just to balance it out abit...

I like the metal textures, very realistic...I wish I could paint metal that well ;)
So what's your secret?

i think it looks pretty sweet so far. great use of colors also. but im not diggin the big orb on the helmet.. kinda takes away some aggressiveness. just my opinion though. nice work and good textures - JAG

I like :teeth: I probably wouldn't have immediately made the minotaur connection, though -- you might think about giving the helmet a more bull-like look. Just a thought :)

Thanks for the compliment. :^^: Basically for metals I tend to try and keep the value contrast up. Say like, whites next to nearly blacks which then may gradate into some sort of middle tone. But a lot of the color just depends on what is being reflected. You just have keep in mind how the planes of your metal object are oriented and consider what might reflect on each of the different sides, etc. References help a lot, too.

I really like it, but like Amontillado, I wouldn't make the connection. Could probably use some sort of tail. Great colors too!

Thanks. Yeah, I actually thought about putting in a tail, but I'm not quite sure how to pull it off.

I played around with it for a bit. It's not easy trying to pin a tail on the err umm... minotaur.

Yeah. It feels a little too long, I think. Here's my attempt.

I agree, I like yours better. However, its such a cool looking character, the costume is tight, I dont know if it really needs it. Im not sure what else you would do to make it more minotaur-like.

I love the concept! You should perhaps make the tail a tiny bit longer, not alot though, and perhaps make it vaguely follow the shape of the body, instead of taking a U turn and point straight to the knee. Causes some disorder in my opinion, and makes it a bit too dynamic. Love the metal textures, and the rune-like inscriptions on the 'horns' are so beautiful. Perhaps make them a bit more intricate? Would make the image a bit more dramatic.

Thanks. I see what you mean about the tail. I think I will work on the horns a little more too. Thanks for the advice.:)

Hmmm.....Maybe it'll be time to move on soon. :rendered:
