This was Painted by Myself
But The drawing was By Sequential75
Was for a contest at SHADOWPOOL Studios (www.shadowpool.com)
Would also like to add...that they did not want a background..just white...=) I to think a background would have been nice..

Looks good. I love the texture on his horns and the subtle glow of his eyes. Too bad you didn't finish the painting and render his legs as well. Other than that good job.

actually mayby its better if the legs are like they are - keeps the focus more on the body and axe
but the ending shuldnt be blur, mayby more sharp
otherwize goodwork

one vote for putting the legs in. it wouldn't take too long to do that and then put it in front of some type of background. it doesn't have to be a fancy background, just something other than white.
its definitely a good start. one issue that really sticks out is that the shoulders are reversed in height. i think that the straight arm shoulder would be lower.

BLITZ! Whaddup fool!
Youve gotten tons better :)
This piece has lots of little drawing problems (not that its bad, im just very very picky), so ill just comment on the color since you did that.
Use your colors/value to play with your space, depth...dont just color in...Like on the horns, you could have used a slightly cooler/darker light on the back parts so that it didnt compete with the part of the horn closest to us and flatten then space. This principle can be utilized all over in hundreds of little paint passages to really move the eye around and create space.
I do like that you have a defined light source! Some of the reflected light seems a tad too light, like on the right side of the little belt. Maybe push the value of the rest of the dark-to-midtones down a bit...just an opinion.
The color shifting in the right arms wrist bands is nice, id like to see that in other places as well.
Some shadows dont have to be pitch black, again depending on your mood/composition/depth, you can play with it.
I dont know if this was the drawing, or coloring..looks like the drawing... But the veins and the scratches dont follow the form in alot of places. Its almost like taking a photo of a person, and drawing a straight line over the arm to say "thats a scratch" ya know? It doesnt work well that way. Follow the contours with everything and itll solidify your form more, and not flatten it. Including the strokes you used in your lights, some oppose your form, make them flow better, and make em say what you want, so they arent just haphazard strokes.
the design on the horns is interferring with your modeling....establish a nice conic form first, then subtely start laying in the pattern again...it would give the horns more form. Keep those foundation masses strong.
Try not to make all your lights the same intensity, it gives everything the same amount of space/attention.
Try suggesting a focal area.
Oh well, just my "Art" opinions :) Lookin good, keep painting!!! Ill keep an eye out, love to hear from you!!
Later big guy!!!!

Great character!
I agree though that the legs look unfinished. I think either finishing the legs or large dust clouds billowing from his heavy walk. Might give hime more weight as well.
Just my 2 cents, I really like this piece.
