In the context of electronic equipment, the more expensive, the better generally holds true. That isn't to say that the prices are always justified, though.
Wacom pretty much has a drawing tablet monopoly, and I would believe that their products are grossly over-priced.

Man the Wacom Intuos 3 6x8 is all you will ever need and worth every penny. If you are going to invest in a software like PS or Painter which are not cheap then you need the tool to compliment them along with a good scanner. If you are serious about your intentions whether you are a hobbyist or a pro you need to make the financial leap to get started.
