This is a dragon, I have been working on. I feel kind of paralyzed. It started out as a pencil sketch, Then I started going over it with ink. I find that I get a lot more fine detail with the pencil, then with the ink some of the detail is lost.
I had a lot of fun with all the scales, but I might go over them with ink and then color it with marker. Not sure.
Open to any tips, thanks.

if i get what you're saying.. the reason it looks like you lose detail after inking is because the lines now stand out against the soft penciled areas thet are created when sketching. you have to recover these in rendering.. like using markers and such.
my biggest problem wit it is the scales on the ridge of its back. it seems you took your time and put effort into the head and the legs and all the scales.. then theres the big goofy scales that look like they were drawn by a 3yr old. also, the wings dont look as good aas the rest of the dragon. before you get run off with any more marker work, try to adjust these items the best you can.
the rendering is where you'll have to gain back your details. but its also the best place to ruin everything. just a heads up, be careful.. - JAG

Well, I could adjust the wings but the big stegasaurus like scales on the back are in black ink already.
Thanks. I think I will think of it as an expiriment without getting too loose. I don't want it to just be a sketch, because then I am too sloppy, but often when I get too tight, I get paralyzed....

heh you can still fix those scales.. gives you an opportunity to be more creative. its just a little black line.. not a concrete wall. no reason to let it bind you to what it is man.. you can still change it. - JAG

Best way to fix it? Overlay it! There is no such thing as feeling paralyzed in a drawing. you are in control. Put it over a light, a window anything and lighty retrace the main shapes of the dragon. save those good lines. It's boring but worth it. Like JAG said..the scales can be done in the final rendering, they are not that important, i mean, it's not the scales that make the Dragon right? :D

I guess, if you can fix a tattoo, this can be fixed too, eh?
